On the flip side, many Koreans think that blowing your nose in public is vulgar, and after thinking about it, I have to say that I tend to agree with them. It's just that most westerners are more desensitized to it, just as most Koreans are desensitized to spitting. |
I think its blowing your nose at the dinner table isnt it? |
No, I mean anywhere in close proximity to other people, though obviously blowing your nose at the dinner table is the worst!

I think maybe you mean the Chinese who think picking you nose in public is disgusting? |
No le-paul, I know the difference between the two things, and I am not mistaking the Koreans for the Chinese. |

It appears you're right (I checked with some Koreans today) and I can honestly say, I didn't know that.
Anyway, it explains why children look so uncomfortable when I offer them a tissue to blow their noses. |

Was walking back last night to my home and as I was coming up to one of the local Korean restaurants I saw one of the adjumma workers with a cup of something and thought she was just taking a breather but as I was passing I hear the distinctive Korean sound of throat clearing followed by a loogie being projected into the street. Don't they have sinks in restaurants? |
