I need to lose some weight for the summer, so I've resolved to limit my grain intake . Problem is, I'm a beer drinker and the grain / gluton doesn't do me any favors. Does anyone know of any beers in pubs / supermarkets that aren't made from grain? I usually just drink the Korean stuff, or Asahi, but I don't mind spending a bit more if it cuts down on the gluton.

Any beer connouiseurs out there in the know?

Thanks.

I'm not convinced Korean "beers" are made with grain. I don't think of them as actual beer. They seem as natural as soju.

The crappier and more water filled it is, generally the less calories it will have.

Cass light is probably the lightest thing that you can get here calories wise. Most of the foreign imports are much heavier beers.

Ginger ale? To be honest though, I'm not sure I've ever had a non-grain based beer.

OH! Ciders? But I doubt they have less carbs than beer.
I haven't looked at it since I'm at work, but this site might be useful if the url is any indication.

Those are some brands (grains, light) big enough you can probably dig them up easily. Dunno about Korean beers though.

If you're really set on losing weight for the summer (do you mean for swimsuit season, or from then til forever?) you'd probably be better just to try sticking to something like soju, or Cheong-ha (cheongju, SO light) for the next few months. Less calories / carbs, and less bloating. Two birds and whatnot.

1 bottle of Soju has 550-650 calories. That as much as 6 Korean beers. Bad call

Here's a handy alcohol-per-calorie guide.

Mix everclear in a bottle of water?

There is Cannabia brand beer in some bars and markets.

You could also try Tesco brand Single Orchard cider.

I'd check out Han's in Itaewon (near 3 Alley Pub). They have a wide selection of imported beers from around the world. Surely one or two of them must be wheat-free. I don't know about bars that stock a wide variety of imported beers. I did hear, however, that Reilly's in Itaewon has a lot of beer options. But I've never been there. Also don't know if they carry wheat free beverages.

This man speaks wise, although this is only if you plan to drink a single bottle of a single whiskey. First few glasses should be neat. Then add in the water for sustained drinks over a long period- and the water helps prevent a hangover.

Reily's is total shit. 50% more expensive than any other place in the country for similar selection.

Too bad it followed a very similar trend in Korea:

Steps:

1. Open new place w/ good food and decent prices
2. Get popular
3. Sell to different owner for ludicrous price
4. Raise prices by 100% while downgrading food quality 1000%

I popped in there and they had an interesting selection of imported beers. I asked the guy if he spoke English, he said yes. I then asked if he knew if any of his beers were wheat-free. "I don't know", he says. How can someone open a specialty imported beer, that deals exclusively in specialty imported beer, and not know such basic information about his one and only product?

Confused
