Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any advice or help. I have been searching the forums via Google for the last 2 weeks and have already learned a lot. I am an official member as of today, so I look forward to learning even more.

My question is - for Aug/Sept private school job in South Korea, is it too late? We're going to start background checks this week and then deal with transcripts and diplomas. I am waiting likely another week for my passport to come back to me with my now married name. I know some things take weeks and I am nervous about the Visa process.

Do you think we are on track to still find a job? I've just started talking with recruiters and didn't have the best experience with Reach 2 Teach so far... Sad I plan to send out several more applications tomorrow. The other added issue is that my husband and I are both applying and looking and plan to go over as a couple. Thank you!

Until you have all of your documents in hand it is pretty much pointless to be applying for jobs.

AFTER you have everything in order the process is pretty quick (for most hagwon jobs).

The job search can take from 7-90 days (depending on how fussy you are).
The visa process usually takes from 12-21 days.
The flight over usually takes a day or so of travel time (depending on where in the world you are flying from (gateway or regional airport).

Considering that its still only late April, and you already have most of your documents in process, and communicating with recruiters for jobs, YOU ARE DOING WELL FOR TIME. You have plenty of time to find one. Good job!

I began the entire process in April (with no documents other than my passport) and was leaving in July for sunny Daegu...

There is always time for everything, when the time is right. For example, right now I have much free time, so I decided to not only respond to this thread, but I am also going to make this a very very very long message.

Ok, that said, I think

Well, since you responded, I will tell you the rest of the story.

This really happened. I am teaching an undergraduate course in conversation. The mid-term exam is a presentation done by two students at a time. When it was time for the last pair only one was there. His partner is his best friend and room mate in the dorm. When I asked where his partner was, he said, ""He is very sick because he got very drunk last night. But we were not prepared anyway." Shocked

When I asked him if his partner would get mad for telling me why he missed, he said his partner told him to tell me that. Shocked Shocked

So, I was so impressed by their honesty, that I will give them a second chance, but because of the curve, they can not have higher than "C+". Who would ever believe such a thing?????!!!! Question Question Shocked He could have made up a great excuse for his partner not being there, then, of course I would have given them a second chance and if they were good enough they could have an "A+".
