I'll go to Homeplus tomorrow and find out but, out of curiosity, does anyone know Samsung's or Homeplus' policy regarding a defective brand new laptop? |

I assume as long as you have the receipt they'll replace it |

Ok, thanks. The problem was several stuck pixels. In reading about the problem, you can press on them and they'll sometimes go away. Using the rounded corner of my cell phone worked. Hopefully it's a permanent fix. |

I paid 499,000 for it. I actually think the pixel issue is resolved. Plus, it would cost more than 1% of the price just to go to Seoul and back. The bigger issue is it often hangs on pages, but when I push F5, it loads the entire page. That may be from buying the cheapest one they had. I miss my $285 Toshiba, but there aren't $285 laptops here nor are there Toshibas. I think I'll just roll with this one. |

Ok, you're right. It doesn't even download YouTube videos. |

I once returned some defective headphones to Homeplus, and while they did finally refund my money, they did not seem to have the "no questions asked" attitude I was use to from retailers in the US. Quite the opposite - the customer service person had to call the manager over and they had serious looks on their faces and there were forms that had to be filled out and it took about ten minutes.
Now I readily admit that that could have just been a one time deal, but I got the feeling that it was not. By the way, had almost the same experience the one time I tried to exchange something in China. |
