My dog was abused when he was between 0-3 yrs old, he has never barked.

Sure, why not just make more of a disturbance and bother even more people? You know, you are the barking dog of this board, SR.

I am so stressed and angry about this whole situation.

As for the comments about eating or killing the dog, I would appreciate it, if you don't have anything constructive to say, please keep your crazy comments to yourself. I am definitely a dog lover and don't blame the dog. I blame the inconsiderate people who own him.

I am definitely a dog lover too.
I have two Jindos.
I have lived in an apt and experienced a dog next door that sounded like it was being exorcised when it was alone.

You are a creator of your situation.

You verbally assaulted your neighbors.
You didn't find a way to communicate with them politely.

You keep talking about blame and anger in being inconsiderate. Its you who chooses to be angry instead of doing one thing to communicate in a positive way.

That's why you evoked the jokes. Even I'm a dog lover with two lovely Jindos, I think the jokes are funny.

If you do go to the police, you can explain the situation with the aid of the language interpretation service they have.

Hey Everyone,

I have a situation that is driving me nuts.

I live on the 9th floor of a highrise in the small city of Sokcho. For the past year, I have had to listen to a small dog bark for hours on end when the people are not home. Generally they are gone 12-14 hours a day...sometimes even longer. I have complained to the apartment security office, the apartment management, my school, and have left notes written in Korean on these peoples door. Nothing seems to come of it. My next step is to file a police complaint about the noise. I am so tired of listening to the barking.

I have a dog myself and yes he barks, when it's an appropriate time to do so. ( like someone coming to the door). He does not have separation anxiety and doesn't bark when I am not home. He is a Jindo mix and is 8.5 years old. So, I completely understand dogs barking. What I don't understand is why people choose to own a dog when they clearly don't have the time to take care of it. Or why they continue to allow the dog to bark like it does when it has been clearly brought to their attention that it barks for hours on end when they are not home.

Tonight was my breaking moment. I was sleeping when the dogs barking woke me up at 11pm. I got out of bed and went and complained to the apartment security guy. He came up and knocked and knocked on their door. I tried to explain that they weren't home, but he didn't understand. As I took my dog outside for a pee, we happened to run into the barking dog owners. I tore a strip off of her. I was furious. I am not sure she understood all of my English, but it was clear I was PISSED OFF from the way I was yelling at her. All she kept doing was saying I am sorry, I am sorry.

I am curious to know if others have experienced this type of situation and what you did about it. Is it possible to file a police complaint? If so, does anything come of it? I would move if I could find a place that would accept my dog. People like this make it so difficult for responsible dog owners like me to find housing.

I have designed a white noise system to counter the sounds of dogs barking outside of my apartment (they do this day and night at random intervals). So - two speakers right next to my pillow - white noise mp3 and I sleep like a baby. Otherwise - when you get awakened by a dog barking at night and the said dog can continue to bark for hours at a time - it can drive you either insane or homicidal. So my little set up has allowed me to sleep through construction next door and dogs barking - considering that the local police wouldn't do anything to remedy the situation, this is my way of taking control of the situation.

Yap! !Yap! Yap! I was torn between treating it as a joke and making fun of how tired out that joke actually is, or treating it as the usual nonsense you continually produce.

And I'm a B, eh? An apologist calling someone who doesn't take crap from others a B. Now that's funny.

I haven't been following it, but there was a thread on new noise laws in Korea that came into effect recently? That may be something you can leverage on your behalf.

Never had the dog situtation but had loud foriegners above me. Bunch of immature 22 year old sh !ts that would never shuit up and went till 2 AM daily. I had to get up really early as I had some far away country schools. I seroiusly wanted to effin kill them. I could never get to sleep and then when they did shut up, I was so pissed that I couldn't sleep. So, I'd start ringing their doorbell at 3 am and 4 am if I was still awake. I'd call the head supervisor for the foriegners in our area at 1 AM and chew him out for it. (He wouldn't let me move out of the building as per the EPIK contract saying I was entitled to 400,000 won and getting my own place and he would disrespect the contract and not let me leave.) In my case, I turned into a real d!(k about it. But this local ed office was the most stubborn obnoxious thing I had ever dealt with. Eventually, I moved to another town.

So, either go to the mattresses and fight back or move on. Two choices. As for dealing with some people in Korea, there are a lot of folks that are inconsiderate, do selfish things, and never think of others. Folks never got scolded here or something and haven't developed that thing known as common sense. (I mentioned examples previously in another discussion.) It's like other folks just endure and never complain about someone doing something iognorant. If you aren't part of their group or network, then eff you, you don't exist or matter to them. Ettiquite isn't exactly common here.
