There's little doubt that they have a hard time with recruitment given not being allowed to shrink kids down to the size of an insect in a magic school bus is a deal breaker for most English teachers. |

I imagine, if China's anything like here, he would have been straight out the door with the police on his trail, if the inteviewer had the slightest idea he was talking about giving kids LSD.
Re teaching the kids so well they hit puberty early
Strangely enough in my first ever TEFL job I did teach a kid who had hit adolescence at the age of eight or nine, due to some medical condition (not my teaching). He was a lot more intelligent than the other kids but had serious behaviour issues. On better days he used to spend the lesson ripping pages of his course book into minute pieces, then throwing them up in the air to create a snow storm effect |

My coteacher plays this for the students. It's part of a textbook. They get a lot of laughs out of it.
If she were not there I would use it too. It's an extra activity, it's effective and makes my job easier. |

one word: Passion
its also a proven fact that Memory retention is much higher when it is put into something repeatable i.e. Song and even more so Dance |
then why dont you do something like this guy in class? |
currently i'm not teaching as i'm back in the States but i do share his positive outlook on life
the thing i despised most on Dave's and why i haven't been back since a few days ago were a certain number of Teachers talking so negatively about teaching or how at their teaching job they felt like mindless "monkeys"
honestly, if its better where you originated from since most ESL teachers are from foreign countries then go back, i'm sure there's someone willing to fill the position and hopefully do it with a better attitude
overall, i consider myself a positive person and maybe not to the aforementioned example...but i will tell you it takes a lotta courage, an outgoing personality, and in my opinion, someone who appreciates what they got while they got it |

What a waste of time it was clicking on this thread.
I thought I was going to see an example of some good teaching and not some emasculated man dancing around.
Any examples of some good teaching? |

I bet that guy is getting some serious tail. K-women love effeminate guys...I'm just not sure that he has enough testosterone to do the job.
As for other teaching styles. May I also suggest the Korean History Channel. They represent the other side of the Korean approach to teaching:

Wow, I sense a lot of jealousy here. What's wrong with what this guy is doing/did? He's in elementary education. Have you guys not seen Blue Clues, Barney, Sesame Street, Bill Nye, Zoombamafoo, the Big Comfy Couch, and how about most of all, Pee Wee's Playhouse???
Would you rather have a teacher who hated his job, hated the kids, and was a miserable wart teaching your kids?
I mean, if Pee Wee Herman was on TV today, everyone would call him an automatic pedophile and it really doesn't get more effeminate than him!
No need to mock him. He's at least putting in effort and having passion for what he does. It's not like he's actually famous or anything. Small views, small subbies, and only 20 videos on that account, hardly anything to be envious of. There's enough hatred in this world.
Good for him, and good for you if you are energetic, charismatic, and love teaching, dancing, singing, and making kids smile. |

| ^^But the kids just watch him dance, or learn to do his dance, they don't learn English - which is the point. Too much of English teaching is entertainment not teaching. |
