Here's something up your alley, guavashake:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-korea-calls-us-a-living-hell/

SEOUL -- In what appears to be a response to a recent U.N. report accusing North Korea of crimes against humanity, the country has published one of its own, in which it calls the United States "the world's worst human rights abuser."

US Demonize “North Korea” the “Worst Human Rights Abuser”: Now DPRK Calls USA “the World’s Worst Human Rights Abuser” Who’s Right?

Some of the photos are from abusers other than USA...

http://www.4thmedia.org/2014/05/dprk-calls-the-us-the-worlds-worst-human-rights-abuser/

"The 4th Media presents below a carefully-selected and compiled set of photos from several different parts of the world where several major US wars have taken place after the WWII. These photos also represent several different historical periods during which time the US as the main culprit has been, directly or indirectly, involved with a numerous number of heinous crimes against humanity and war crimes.”

Yes, God forbid a government which constantly threatens to kill people, and which genuinely oppresses and even tortures its own citizens, say something crude about women or people of color. I can't believe that oppressive military dictators still haven't realized that we need to speak in egalitarian terms. Don't they know it's 2014? This just makes me realize we still have so far to go.

It would be a good idea if you identify the country you are referring to initially, and subsequently refer to the country as 'they'.

The way it is now, it is unclear what country you are referring to, as DPRK and USA are being discussed, and they both do the things you mention.

USA does the things exponentially more so, as there is an approximately 10 X greater population.

And they do those things to numerous other countries as well.

And this goes for the "people of color" part as well.

When talking about human rights severity, I ask myself a simple question - where would I prefer to live?

The DPRK would be WAY down that list.

Fox, its time to remind us how you're not defending Kim Jong Il/Sterling/racism again.

Precisely speaking, I was attacking the bizarre mentality of a people who get more upset about crude racial insults than actual death and suffering. How you read that as me defending anyone is confusing. Even Guavashake was only pretending to misread me to make his point.

North Korea has been saying stuff like this for years, and says just as bad or worse about the South Korean president, a lot of it would make feminists angry if they cared about/followed Asian politics. Other than the racist aspect, it is not any worse than what they called George W. Bush.

My suspicion is that a) death, torture, concentration camps, etc. are abstract to almost all Americans, but racism on some levels isn't

b) If it is just racism, then its ok to get outraged and say how bad it is, but if it is the death, torture, and using starvation as a political strategy than it is a lot harder to rationalize-live in the same world with, and might actually mean doing something about it.

Yes, and thou hast vanquished that strawman.

It's not a strawman, it's an incredibly common mode of thought in the west. If you don't think this criticism applies to you in particular, you needn't concern yourself with it.

I think its more like, "Of course the murderous North Korean government also releases low-class racist diplomatic missives" than what you said.
