Haven't been to one yet, but they advertise themselves as places you can go and make out with girls. (for money) More is most likely on offer though. |

Hmm. I've never heard of a "kiss bang" before but I vaguely remember one of my friends mentioning going to a "licking club" one time. I wonder if it's the same thing or yet another distinct variety of paid sexual service. |

This is an old post but I thought it would be helpful to others.
I've lived in Sillim-3dong for 2 years now. I loved that it was close to Boramae Park and I have been working for Lotte Chem. which is across the street from the park. There are alot of foreigners in the area, typically Chinese and they didn't bother me or my family, not once. However, I did experience my first 5 thefts in Seoul while living here! I never had to lock my motorcycle, car or house prior to living here. I have stayed in Mapo, Nakseongdae, Sinseoldong and others without a single theft but in Sillim my motorcycle was stolen twice. The police are great to foreigners and found it both times within a week. I had other things stolen from my car and patio but they were not of much value really, a mountain bike, a grill, a stroller etc.
So to make a long post, long. Lock up your things but otherwise it is very quiet and super convenient as far as location! Hope this helped. |

Firstly, i have yet to be to a place in Korea that I would say is unsafe to live in. 2nd Sillim-dong is not overall seedy, but there are places around sillim station that are. But even around the station it's just sections. Also it's not a open rld like Yongsan's for instance. It's more just hotels, kiss bangs, and anmas from what I can tell. Still I'd also prefer not to live next to those places.
I would check the place out and make sure it's not surrounded by hotels, but otherwise i think sillim station is pretty nice. Has every chain, lots of shops and food and people. Quite convenient too. |

The girl kisses you and you make out while she fondles particular areas of yours. Legally, it's not s ㅌ x. To each their own, I guess. |

Got a link for that? Just curious.
Dated a girl once from this area several years back. Stayed in a motel there once, though it was so filthy, I never did that again. Yick! |

| I lived there in a quiet villa for almost three years. There are many nice things about the location, as previously mentioned by other posters. However, I would strongly advise against foreign women living in the area. I quickly left my home there last year due to personal safety reasons. |

That was the guy that wrote a book and jumped off the building because his life was on internet display. Matt Sellers was a long time vet of the ROK and an Army vet. He was well educated, well mannered and well spoken. DID something sinister occurred over a period of a few days? Was he a victim of foul play as Korea conspiracy theorists believe? |

Ah, OK, I got confused with Shawner88, who killed himself in China. My mistake. |

I also read that he died in a taxi whilst being taken from one hospital in Ilsan-Gu in Goyang City that wouldn't even have a look at him to another one very far away from it. Thanks for the info. His death is very suspicious indeed. |

Gusts of Popular Feeling blog has one. A Dave's poster named Seoul Podcast or something interviewed Sellars' sister and a Brit whose brother, a man from England named David and a friend of mine, was supposedly killed for complaining about his hogwon in Sillim-dong. I know the name of the hogwon and its owner. A current expat journalist at Korea Times knows the woman who married David. And she seems to know what really went down based on my talks with her in 2004. |

| My girlfriend used to live in the area, so I hung out there a bit. Seedy is absolutely correct, and more so than many other areas. Sillim is the only place in Korea I have been solicited for sex on the street -- twice. |

I remember this guy from a thread awhile back. I asked who he was and what happened. A poster responded implying he was harassed by some people living in Korea at the time. Then, there was another poster threatening legal action. It was quite entertaining. |
