My current contract ends on June 20 and my ARC expires on July 20.
I am currently on an E-9 visa.
I will not be renewing my contract, so that means I can transfer to a D-10 (looking for work) visa anytime before July 20? Could I go on July 17 or 18, or should I do it earlier?
Can I leave and come back to Korea while here on a D-10? Is it "multiple entry"?
If I do find a job while on a D-10 (with the same E-9 visa but a different school) can they just switch the visa back to E-9 easily? or would it still take 2-3 week processing like the first time?
Thanks for the help? |

The E-9 visa is the "Non-professional Employment" visa. How'd you manage to get that? |

I think once they decide you have brought all the required information processing generally happens like immediately to a day. Regardless you always have to wait like 2 weeks before you can pick up your new ARC card. When I switched to D10 a couple months ago I wanted to go to Japan that weekend, the woman said don't leave the country until after you get the D10 ARC card. When I picked up my ARC card with the D10 I asked the guy if it is all right to leave the country and he said yes. My suggestion is apply for you D10 as soon as you contract expires, your new ARC card should be ready before you leave for your trip. It will cost 100 000μ in stamps and 30 000μ for a new ARC card, bring a photo, your old ARC card, passport, bank statement might help, the looking for work plan form, and the request change of visa form, they may also request a lease form or something to prove where you live; especially since you are no longer working for a school. Again when you find a new job and want to switch back to E-9 it will take 2 weeks for the card, another 100 000μ in stamps and 30 000μfor a new ARC and however much it costs you to get a new medical check, but hopefully you can negotiate your new school to pay for all required visa fees and medical checks. Alternatively you could go on vacation immediately for like a week while on your E-9, come back and find a job and probably just choose extend visa. I think this would cost less but is a riskier option. If you don't find a job and apply late as in July 17-18 for your D10 they may give you shit or just deny it. |
