I can't believe the fact that no one has brought up the fact that Korea has the largest per capita plastic surgery industry. There's a very good chance that most of those hot females you're seeing in the city were not "born this way". Add in expensive clothes and accessories, and it's likely that the country folk just can't afford to sculpt that sort of look.
My co-teacher gets a procedure a year, about. Nothing too major, but she's very quiet and religious, it always kind of surprising. What's more depressing is that she usually goes with her teenaged daughter who gets the same things done. And she only wants to get it done because everyone else at her public school in a normal area of Seoul is getting it done.
So yeah, enjoy the view but don't be fooled that its from the hand of God. More likely from the hand of Dr. Kim in Apgujeong. |

The OP has a misogynistic tone about it - why would this be considered an issue that you should need to 'get over'?
It's very subjective to say the least but you are also holding women to a standard based on a social construct (which many countries have) and your own ego.
Yes, it's nice to look at attractive people but that doesn't mean they are here for your viewing pleasure or to be the subject of your levels of satisfaction of the local eye candy to a point where it's become an issue for you.
Several posters have pointed out the obvious reasons why women in the countryside may be less bothered with how they are perceived in attractiveness compared to the city girl.
One can only hope that with those explanations, you do get over it. |

Apparently that's a whole 'thing' these days.

I live in a small town in the country. I like the countryside, but I can't get over how unattractive the women are. Good looking women are a rarity. I ride my bicycle in the evenings and pass hundreds of people, and rarely do I see a good looking woman. Same on the bus, or at the supermarket.
Yet tonight when I head to Itaewon the streets will be packed with lovely creatures. Sitting outside on a patio behind Hamilton hotel is a real treat. I'll witness hundreds of attractive, well dressed women parading by.
Then it's back to my small town and probably the least attractive women on the planet. What gives? Is plastic surgery really that widespread? Whatever the explanation, the difference is striking. |
Why are most of the foreigners in Korea ugly? |

Fail. There is nothing misogynistic about enjoying looking at pretty women. Nor is it misogynistic to observe that whereas there are plenty of attractive women in location "A", there is virtually none in location "B"". So you can put away your undergrad degree in Marxist-Feminist Resentment Studies. Nobody is interested. Men enjoy attractive women. Women enjoy attractive men. Gay and lesbian people enjoy attractive people of the same gender. Bisexuals enjoy both. Get over it. Nobody is objectifying these people or suggesting they are nothing more than looks or sexual objects. But beauty is important. We search for it in nature, art, design, architecture, animals, and...people. And we are sexual creatures. We are attracted to beautiful, sexy people (whatever the gender). It's wired into our genes. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. The bitter "men are evil" revolution is over. The femi-nazis lost. Unfortunately some uber-feminists are also bitter about that fact. Tough. Deal with it. Men enjoy looking at pretty women. (The horror!)
And here's the shocker. Pretty women enjoy being admired. That's why they go to such bother to look attractive. And we oblige. Everyone wins. There are no victims. Noone is being done wrong by. I think you can relax.
And maybe lose a few pounds. |

Because they can't afford the plastic surgery?
Come to think of it, I haven't met good looking foreigners in Korea, either. (I'm talking about Justin-Beiber-good-looking and I have met stunningly beautiful people). I think it's mostly due to, as said in 200-pound Beauty: "Beauty is in the attitude". Foreigners in Korea don't have the need for that 'attitude'. |

Look, I called you out on your BS and you're not happy about it, I get that and your response tells a lot about your attitude towards women.
If you read my post again, you will see that I had no issue with enjoying looking at attractive women. But what you did was beyond an observation.
You questioned it as though you were unable to come up with any rational or logical explanation yourself. You came on here asking for people to explain your situation to you and even admitted that you couldn't get over it.
It's not about being a feminist, but more about your attitude towards the situation so it's you who needs to deal with it.
Also, you might want to think about not making blanket statements on behalf of women "pretty women enjoy being admired" sounds creepy in the context of the OP.
As for losing a few pounds... I'm a model and am in pretty good shape thanks Nice try though. |

Nothing is more entertaining than a man claiming to *know* what women want, think, need, and feel in terms of admiration or appreciation. Significantly when that man invokes tired nomenclature brought to the fore by a bloviating lard ass whose opinion on matters of social, cultural, and intellectual importance is widely ignored by most respectable people on both the right and the left.
I'm a feminist. Being a feminist isn't about "winning" or "losing" anything. Contrary to academic encapsulation, feminism doesn't come in waves. It will always be important. It's about continuous advocacy in the face of blatant discriminatory practice, belittlement, and overcoming exasperatingly outdated conceptions of what a woman should and should not do, or what a woman should and should not look like.
Of course people like beautiful things and enjoy gazing upon them, but it's not the end all be all of human existence. I've met some very attractive people who were about as interesting as mud. This is to say nothing of conventionally attractive people who expressed outright racist/homophobic/misogynistic opinions. Somehow they became a lot less attractive after opening their mouths. I prefer substance to cosmetics and if it happens to come in a pretty package, so much the better. But if it's a pretty package with no there there...you can keep it. |

I think the Al Bundy meme said it best. Don't try to understand women. Women understand women and they hate each other. |

I try not to make serious points by invoking memes, but then again I'm not a Millennial. And I also don't hate women. Do some women behave cattily and antagonistically to other women? Undoubtedly. Just as many men can be baselessly and illogically barbaric to one another. But it's absurd to assume that a few misguided individuals represent ALL men/women. |

Ugly people are restricted in their movements in the cities here, which I imagine goes a long way towards explaining why the OP is located where he is |

Women who are more attractive can attract a richer, more successful, higher status mate. In Korea the vast majority of high paying or high status jobs can be found in the larger cities in each province as well as the largest metro areas in the country as a whole. This means that the best jobs for men and women as well as the largest group of such rich successful potential mates will be found in the larger cities in each province and the large metro areas. So, the bulk of attractive women will redeploy their assets - themselves - to the areas that offer the greatest potential return either in working themselves or in securing the most desireable mate or both. This will apply to men as well. Since the most attractive and successful men and women are hooking up, marrying and reproducing in these locations, the children and teens will start out with better genes and have more money for enhancements. Generation after generation those born in the rural areas who have above average skills, beauty or both continue to move to the locations with greater opportunity - similar to a "brain drain" there is a "beauty drain."
There is also the additional factor that when you have a larger group to look at, there are more beauties numerically to ogle, and it's easier to ignore the rest. |

There's really no morality here that can apply. Humans will always act in this fashion. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. |

Why so ugly? Probably cause of ugly people calling them ugly? |

Wondering if the OP lives in a small town? Or the main town in a small town (eg. the county seat)?
Most young people will go to whatever is the bigger town. So if they are from one of the small villages, they'll want to go to high school in the main central town of the area. Then to a regional city for university and then like 90% of young people will want to end up in Seoul (or some other big city), and try their luck.
Anyways, people who think they have a chance (which is most young people) will be attracted to the bright lights of the big city. Hence, the lack of pretty young things in small towns. Especially these days in modern Korean where transportation is cheap, quick, and efficient. |
