I went there during September. The beaches were officially closed so no lifeguards or crowds. I did it on the cheap (in my single days), and just stayed at love motels and took a bus around the island. I was there for a total of 4 days. If you go in the off season and are single you don't need to plan it, just book some tickets.
I wouldn't compare it to an off Korea vacation, it's more like something you can do spur of the moment (instead of a KTX to Seoul, take a flight to Jeju). |

| Went there last year with the Ex. He's Korean. It was not so bad. Saw some nice waterfalls and the scenery was pretty. We had a nice pension on the beach, walked to eat some Ogyeopsal, and met a group of raucous Jeju ajummas (one of whom was Hyenyeon...the famous female divers) who outdrank us both, but managed to show us a good darn time. I agree that it's probably something you'd want to do on a long weekend, not really something you'd do for a week long vacation. And I also can't agree with the idea that it's like Hawaii, of which more than one Korean has attempted to convince me. It has its charms, and is what you wish to make of it. |

Never been but viewed it via naver streetview. Some of it looks nice and a bit different. But the cities look the same as Korea. They should have made it look different to give it a more foreign feel. Is it humid there like the mainland? I'm guessing so. Does their summer rain as much as the mainland? Can you see the blue skies there more than the mainland? Just wondering as I hear it's suppose to be windy.
I remember a few years back when schools use to give time off for exam days in early October, I went down to Yeosu and it seemed quite nice. Slightly cool in the morning, but I could tough it with a t shirt somewhat. Still warm in afternoons. So, maybe if Jeju's a little warmer than the mainland, it would be the best time to go. Problem is Korea only gives vacations when the weather sucks and you either want to stay in with the air con or fly out to a blue sky place.
Anyways, if Chuseok ever falls in late September or early October, I'd do it. Hasn't for a while. (...and no, I don't get extra days off anymore. Lol.) |

| Yes, and I wouldn't recommend it. Save yourself the disappointment, for about the same amount of money, get an 'air-tel' deal to the Philippines and enjoy. |

If you plan to go send me a PM. Late September/early October is a great time to go. Steer clear of the major holidays if you can. Motorbike is a fun idea but cars are cheap to rent too. I'm not a tour guide but there is plenty of fun stuff to do. Go to the beach. There is nobody there then. |
