|
|
I'm sure there's already an abundance of information posted about this, but I did a Google search and didn't feel like wading through previous threads, so here's my situation:
I'm renewing with the same after school company/school. This will be my 4th year. My coordinator and I can't seem to recall how it was done in the past. She thinks it's possible to renew after my current contract has expired. I'm not sure, so I found a phone number online (021345) and got some information. Still, I want to double check here...
If I'm renewing, do I really have within 14 days of starting my new contract/year (March 3rd) to renew my E2 visa? I'd go myself today or tomorrow, but I don't have all the necessary documents. If I really do have 14 days to extend/renew, perfect, but I don't want to miss a deadline and have to go through some extra nonsense because of it. |

So long as your E-2 is still current, then yes, 14 days.
You only need really basic stuff that you should already have to renew though..
1. Your contract (originals and copy)
2. Copy of employer's business licence
3. Immigration Form (#34 if i remember off the top of my head)
4. Copy of your ARC/Passport (+ physical things)
5. Money
Go at 8:30, 30 minutes before they open, grab one of the first few tickets and be out of there by 9:20. |

IF your ARC is still valid then:
passport
ARC
new contract
employer's business registration (copy)
employer's guarantee (sponsorship form)
application
fees (60k for extension of sojourn).
If your ARC has expired then you start again from scratch with a new visa application and deal with the overstay issues.

Thanks for the info.
My current contract expires tomorrow, my new one has been signed and starts on Monday. My ARC expires on March 31st. So long as I go to immigration next week or the week after, it looks like I'll be okay. |

In addition to all the documents listed above, you also now need to provide Immigration with proof of Residence i.e. that you are living somewhere in Korea.
If you have your own housing, then a gas/maintenance bill or lease with your name on it is required.
If your school provides your housing, it is likely you willl have no bills to your name on it. So, you need to get a copy of the housing contract between your school and the landlord. It's need to be stamped/signed with the date and also needs the stamped seal of the school. |

Thanks, Savant.
That was mentioned when I called yesterday. So, to anybody else who might find this thread useful, here's the list of things I'll/you'll need:
- passport
- alien registration card
- 60,000 won
- application form
- new contract (an original and a photocopy, I believe)
- business registration
- time schedule
- income tax information
- housing contract |

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the copy of your school's timetable.
I renewed today with the same school but didn't need any income tax document nor was it mentioned to me by the Immigration Officer.
Visa fees have gone up too but as a Brit I am exempt from paying for renewals |

Quick question,
If I leave my current employer with 5 months left on the contract (and get a release letter), then move to another Hagwon. Can I renew my contract at the new Hagwon without difficulties?
I.e. Is it the same process as what's been listed above?
Thanks in Advance |
Yes, with the simple addition of the LOR.
Oh, and the fees are now 120k for change of employer and 60k for extension of ARC (so you can complete a new contract).

I renewed my ARC in March, and when my boss went to pay the 60,000 renewal fee, he was told there wasn't one because I'm from the UK. I'm not sure if this is a new thing or has always been the case, but my boss seemed pretty surprised. |
