Black Rednecks and White Liberals makes the case that the social problems in black communities are due to a combination of the redneck culture that blacks adopted from southern whites and liberal government policies which actually reward blacks for behaving badly. Liberals thought that if society was soft on crime then criminals would eventually return the favor by becoming law abiding citizens. They thought rehabilitation was preferable to long prison sentences. It didn't work. Crime in black communities skyrocketed in the 1970s and 1980s. The number of blacks being born out of wedlock also skyrocketed after changes in government policy made it possible for single mothers to collect welfare benefits. A lot of things have happened since Jim Crow. The OJ trial was probably the real turning point. Tens of millions of Americans followed the trial closely. They watched as a largely black jury acquitted OJ despite clear evidence of his guilt. They also watched as blacks all over America celebrated the not guilty verdict. As Ann Coulter said of the impact of the OJ trial, "Blacks were the only people, as we discovered with the OJ verdict, who cheered criminals just because they were the same race." It was the end of white guilt in America. |

In terms of blacks, I should have clarified with African-American blacks. You indeed had Haiti, but since it was a formerly French colony there was little attraction for many freedmen to go there.
As for Liberia, you can see the potential for hesitation for a 3 month travel across the sea given their ancestors last 3 month trip across the sea and the kind of journey that was. |

Well clearly that is a sufficiently devastating criticism and Fox and I are fatally undermined. |

First I would disagree with the assertation. and also when we say 'Black communities' lets be accurate. Poor black communities. Poor black communities and crime and behavior is not unique and special. South Boston, 5 points NYC, and other Irish American enclaves were as violent and often moreso. Jews formed criminal gangs for the first time as a collective when they came to America. The lower east side of NYC, Jewish enclave at the turn of the century was extremely violent and had a very high crime rate. Fact is, crime is a function of poverty, always has been, always will be. The various middle class black neighborhoods around America have a far lower crime rate and the crime that occur there are from the poor Black neighborhoods that are next to them (these middle class communities usually exist next to each other). Shaker Heights, Ohio, Lauderdale, Fla., Windsor Hills, in LA are middle class Black neighborhods that experience much, much lower crime and are now being gentrified by whites in some cases.
As far as celebration in the OJ case, obviuosly wrong but then again, Blacks in America have had a couple hundred years of hundreds if not thousands of court cases where they were falsely accused and convicted of a crime. The OJ trial goes back to the Rodney King trial earlier where they felt there were misjustice. Both are related socially. Not exonerating it but its so. As a side note, I think the support for Zimmerman for many, not all, were as a result of the OJ trial and/or perceived black injustiice/reverse racism claims. |

Simplistic nonsense, as has been pointed out to you time and time again.
"Consider that both blacks and Hispanics currently have similar national poverty rates in the one-third range, more than double the white figure, and each constitutes well over 20% of our urban population. However, major cities with substantial poverty but few blacks usually tend to have far lower levels of crime. For example, El Paso and Atlanta are comparable in size and have similar poverty rates, but the latter has eight times the robbery rate and over ten times the homicide rate. Within California, Oakland approximately matches Santa Ana in size and poverty, but has several times the rate of crime"

Its not the poverty. Its the plunder and oppression.

Whenever a sentence begins "Liberals thought," you know to suspect the rest.

Right now we live in a second phase of Jim Crow. Blacks are incarcerated under three strikes provisions. One crappy crime plus another b*lls*t drug charge, and let's throw a real offense in there, too, and now they are imprisoned for life.

There was evidence of his guilt, and as much evidence of police misconduct. OJ was framed. He just happened to be guilty. What result does that mean in the U.S. legal system under the standard reasonable doubt? It means OJ goes free. The verdict was fair and just.

I think the whole "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit" was what sent OJ free more than anything. That was an unmitigated disaster. If you say that the glove was worn by the murderer and then you, as the prosecution, have the defendant try it on in court and have it apparently not fit, then what do you expect? People to still vote guilty? Once that happened, OJ was home free. |
