Yeah.
Not to mention.
And of course,
And well,
Sorry,
I mean,
Think about it - I think you need to reevaluate your claim.
How can we tell?
Because
Do you know why?
Just because. |
The show is already over. tp has already been debunked and de-baited.
And it was done in a logical and concise way, unlike your way. |
Says the guy whose argument consisted of listing every incarnation of the 'Rambo' franchise. |
You are funny.
You try to prove things that have already been proven to be true, and you try to disprove other things that have already been proven to be true.
What is funnier is the people who debate you. |

Other than Hollywood, how many other film industries around the world even attempt to make an epic on the scale of Apocalypse Now or Platoon? |
How many other countries want to? |
Going on the premise that only big blockbuster type epics are the only movies that gross in the billions worldwide, probably many film industries around the world would like to produce them. |
Hardly "billions" for Vietnam war movies... decent returns in the States but no real market globally....
150 million gross for Apocalypse Now ('79).
138 million gross for Platoon ('86).
775 million at the box (worldwide) for Star wars IV ('77)
now up to $1.366 BILLION in gross.

Show me where I said those two specific movies made billions. |
Take inflation into account it is into billions. (prices generally double every 8-ish years...)
Apocalypse Now - 35 years later ~ 2.4 billion
Platoon - 28 years later ~ 1.1 billion |

Not to mention Apocalypse Now actually was pretty dang succesful overseas and it's box office is 50/50 domestic and international. And 150 million gross back then was pretty impressive. People were blown away when Star Wars made around 220 million in it's initial run.
Also, comparing any sort of movie's success to Star Wars is completely dumb because no film ever did what Star Wars did at the time. If you adjust by inflation, only Avatar has done better than Star Wars by a slight bit (I don't count Gone with the Wind because it had a 4 year initial run and many rereleases, so you really can't compare them). |

Some language well known from the Vietnam war that all English speakers are familiar with freely used in the war movies
Charlie - Vietcong fighter
Gooks - Racial slur used to describe Vietnamese (but can apply to all Asians
"Love you long time" - spending the night with a lady of the night
Actually this is sad but after doing some research I found this
gook
derogatory term for an Asian; derived from Korean slang for "person" and passed down by Korean war veterans |

Another anniversary of a minor footnote in world history coming up: 6th of June, the Allied invasion of Normandy. A spoof version.
Disgruntled soldiers after 2 days without access to internet due to commucations blackout finally sail for Normandy. Officers and NCOs leaving the landing craft first are charged with homicide and neglegence. Soldiers charge towards the enemy with one hand firmly on their i-phones video recording the events for their facebook page. 5000 are shot down.
82nd airborne agree to para-drop but will not liberate France because France is full of Catholics.
101st airbourne agree to para-drop but also will not liberate France because France allows gay-marriage.
Brits make a successful landing but lose the chance to take Caen on the first day due to Americans taking too much time making up their minds at the coffeee shops.
Canadians also make a successful landing but they march on foot because they fear leaving a big carbon-footprint, and hence they are blocked by Germans.
Joyous French welcome their liberators with wine and cheese. Lactose-intolerance outbreak grinds the whole offensive to a halt.
Roger Revere rides his bicycle through the towns warning the Germans that Obama is coming to confiscate their guns.
D-Day+1:
More American troops arrive. They complain that the French rural women are ugly, and becasuse the France allows abortion they refuse to liberate the country.

They never lost a battle. They fully admit the government lost the war, but the soldiers maintain they never lost a battle. Mostly true btw. |

"You know you never defeated us in the field."- Col. Harry Summers.
"That may be true, but it is also irrelevant."- Unknown North Vietnamese Colonel |

That's what Germans said after the WW1. "We're fighting in France and WE LOST THE WAR?"
Anyway, another anniversary of a footnote has passed by: Capture of Rome, 4th of June 1944. Gen. Mark Wayne Clark became only the third commander in recorded history to capture Rome via the southern route. One who did it before Mark Clark was Bellisarus in 5th century AD. And the Brits said: "We've been banging our heads against Monte Casino for 15 months and HE gets the credit for taking Rome?" To be fair, Brits and the papacy weren't BFF at the time, and the pro-Nazi Pope busy helping the Germans eradicating Italian communists and Jews and whatnot, a Boy Scout general like Mark Clark was a god send. |
