Come on now, it's not that hard. In Korea, you are most likely teaching EFL, not ESL. For a group of know-it-alls y'all pretty ignorant.

I help young Koreans learn English that's good enough for me. I don't need some pompous dumb@$$ title to stoke my fake ego.

I really dont care either.

If anyone asks, Im currently teaching. I think they can probably figure out specifically what Im teaching.

Well it is a bit ridiculous when you have someone who has been in teaching in Korea for 10+ years not knowing if they teach EFL or ESL. Who knows though, maybe not knowing one's job title is par for the course these days so I might be the one out of the loop.

The difference is only technical. EFL is teaching English in a different country and ESL is teaching English to non-English speaking students while living in an English speaking country.

Academic and common usage often are very different (theory, racism, etc). This isn't that big of a deal
