You can see a lot of that in Saudi too apparantly, as long as you get a good place in the crowd.

They have actually been cutting (no pun intended) back on that here. Too many westerners here and they are running low on executioners. That doesn't change the fact that they simply move executions out to the desert and away from public view. It's called deterrence. It keeps people from committing crime. Not that I am justifying it by any means. Overall, I feel a hell of a lot safer walking around in even the dodgiest parts of Riyadh than I did in Mexico. In Mexico, the police can't control the crime. They can't control it. Here people are afraid to commit crime. There is a difference. To make a blanket statement like "That part of the world is beginning to heat up' as if every country in the ME is some kind of war zone, it's just idiotic. It's safe here Safe. You should come to see for yourself.

Erm, I live in Spain now Sonny Jim. Somewhere where you would give your right testicle to live, however, I have noticed LPSKA has his 'honeymoon' spectacles on regarding Saudi Arabia. His postings about the place is the hallmark of all fools partaking in ESL everywhere.

Good, I won't be seeing you anytime soon. Very Happy

But we will have to agree that if Spain gave Americans and Canadians visa free access to the labour market then most teachers of that nationality in Korea would be on the first plane to Madrid.

Most of the ones here are too tight to get a CELTA so they wouldn't get jobs

Why? From what I've read the average pay is already worse there (and would probably decrease if Americans and Canadians were suddenly granted equal access to the teaching market there), and I imagine most Americans or Canadians who were interested in sacrificing pay in return for climate would probably be in Thailand or the like.

Personally I'd consider China, Japan, or Taiwan (since they're all places whose language and culture interest me), but Spain? Not really. I'm glad you're happy there though.

It's clear Robbie Davies has something against North Americans in general. The question though, is why?

I don't know many North American teachers who drool at the mouth to work in Spain. If Spain did change their labor laws, nothing would change. Spain could care f all for Anglophones coming in to their country to teach English anyhow.

No, we don't have to agree. Nonsense! Rubbish!

Maybe I'm being a bit slow here but what's the connection between a phenomenon where hostages start to have positive feelings towards their captors and some North Americans on an internet forum claiming they wouldn't want to work in Spain?
