I am interviewing for jobs in South Korea this week and am very excited about the opportunities there but really want to bring my dog with me wherever I go. He is very old, very small and very quiet; he could certainly be happy living in a shoe box size apartment as his favorite hobby is sleeping. He traveled with me to Mexico last year and is a fantastic companion.

I am interviewing for public school positions. Has anyone stayed in provided housing with a small dog or will I have to find my own place? Is this possible? Does anyone have experience with the entrance requirements for bring a dog into Korea from the USA?

Abraham and I thank you in advance!

Check out Animal Rescue Korea on Facebook. Bringing a dog to Korea is more difficult than taking a dog to the US. But it can be done. If your dog is very old, a long plane ride might be hard on him.

yes. I brought my dog from the states. I was concerned at the time she wouldn't make the trip, but she made it just fine. You will need to have your local vet fill out some docs, then you will need to go the the FDA I believe it was and have them certify that your doggy is healthy and can travel.

I only have experience with United Airlines pet safe travel program. They seemed to take good care of her. Anyway, once you arrive, a customs broker will call you and you will have to travel to the cargo delivery section of Incheon airport. You will have to find the customs broker office, sign a few docs, and pay import duties (if your dog is a purebred, not sure of mutts). You can ask them to call you a driver since its just too tiring at that point to take public transportation.

pm me if you have any questions. good luck!
