Is it acceptable to show the apostilled copy of my university diploma as proof of it to my potential new employer, or would they prefer that I also showed them a copy of my original degree?

I have heard of stories where providing the original diploma to the employer is not the best idea. ~ http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=13307.15;wap2

Once upon a time you needed the originals.
NOW you need the legalized copy.
If you are on an E2 then you give it to immigration.
If you are on an F-visa then the MOE gets it when you get registered as a teacher.
You do NOT need the originals.

Original is required for E-1 Visa, as well as transcripts. But, if you can, take the diplomas in person.

Maybe for the employer as an employer requirement.

They are neither wanted, needed or asked for by immigration or the MOE (ergo, not needed for the visa process).

For most E2 jobs... they just want to make sure you can get the visa. IF it wasn't required then they wouldn't ask for it (circa 1998).

I'll have to keep this in mind, as there are many Korean employers who request seeing the original university diploma as part of the interview screening process for all of their prospective employees.
