Back to the original question, Hyehwa has seen an absolute explosion in bars in the last 2 years (bars, not Hofs).

I moved here about 2 years ago and used to frequent the area as well when I lived in Nowon and Dobong and I remember there being a grand total of 10 bars or so, most of which were pretty crappy.

Fast forward to today there are over 30 in a tiny two block radius. 8 ALONE of which are either Bonjour or copy cats serving nitro-tapped Max and fries (they are hit or miss, some of them make good bar food while others are quite lacking). Also, 2 pubs serving foreign beer on tap and a cocktail lounge have been a nice addition.
