Hey mb... at the moment we aren't hiring anymore foreign teachers I'm afraid =\ We just hired a new Korean teacher and Canadian teacher and we haven't filled their schedules yet.

And phone calls are free We've made some arrangments and even our Canadian teachers can call anytime for one flat fee a month, which we pay. It's peanuts though compared to the money each teacher can bring in.

Those of you that do phone teaching, what source materials do you use (assuming they're not produced in-house by your business) I've had parents and businessmen ask me, but haven't had a lot of success with it. Finding good material is hard.

I turned down a guy who wanted to do pronunciation over the phone--I usually use a lot of visual exercises, listening drills, and demonstrations with mouth charts and don't know hw 'd do that over the phone. Would you give it a try? If so, how?

Our company uses Exploring English and New Interchange mostly. A business English program is now in the works too. MOST of our teaching comes from stuff developed in-house though. That is, we use the above texts but we supplement with a lot of our own stuff because simply reading from a text is rarely enough. I have yet to find a text book that has everything I wanted for the students ><

Hmmm just read your last post more carefully. Sorry I didn't answer your question before...

To practice pronunciation on the phone, I just encourage the student to speak as much as possible. Read each sentence from a book and have them repeat.

They won't get it perfect anyway... that takes time. So just practice practice practice. The more they hear English and the more they speak English, the better they will get.

On the phone, you're there as a sounding board mostly. Students do most of their learning on their own. Teachers are there for reference and guidance.
