Oh, you meant that we could learn from you. Ok, I got it. Thanks...but, I do not wish to share my philosophy with you nor do I wish to read your ideas (unless I'm having trouble falling asleep |
Go back and read what was written before. |
There's too much asskissing on this site. This argument is a breath of fresh air. |

I see learning English, or any foreign language, is comparable to learning to play a musical instrument.
1. You have to know what you are reading.
2. You have to know what you are hearing.
3. You have to know how to process that information in your brain.
4. You have to be ready to communicate said information.
5. You have to know how to use your instrument
6. You have to practice. |
I stand by with what I said...but, that is what works for me. |

That quote, was not from me.
Adjust fire on that. |
Negative, Ghostrider. You've done a sloppy job with quotes. What you have quoted above are my words in response to what you wrote seven posts down on page one. |

OK, fair enough. I do not make the highest effort to learn about how to utilize the quote options.
But, the quote above, was NOT of my own words. |

And if that is your purpose, than do the best you can.
No argument there. |

LOl. The OP is making this too easy for people to rag on him. This is making me laugh. |

Really?
OK...well...music IS a language (and truly, the greatest of the arts...in my opinion).
And, it is comparable to learning another language.
But, please show me the error of my ways and I will consider what you have to say....truly. |

What I really wanted to say, in response to that blundering, blabbing quote of a kindergarten student was...."Yes, such as your mother'.
BUT...I refrained. |

Your mother taught you well.
It's a shame she gave you bad genes. |

I already said as much. Those are my words…addressed to you. You left your quote out.
Here, I’ll walk you through it. You said this:
| trueblue wrote: |

Since your OP gave the impression you wanted to learn from us, when the above quote (following your short dissertation on music appreciation) indicated you meant for us to learn from you, I responded with this:

See which quote’s yours and which one’s mine? |

Here’s how it looked when I originally posted (highlighted in blue to distinguish it from the rest of this post):

That’s pretty clear, too, isn’t it? See how what you said is nicely contained in that white box and how what I said is clearly outside that box?
But you quoted like this:

The quote functions on Dave’s are a bit complicated, but worth learning. |

No laughing at other students when they make a mistake.
English can be thought of as a puzzle, the pieces are sometimes interchangeable.
Mistakes are expected and are halfway to understanding.
With children stickers and candy is used initially but over time the focus should be on intrinsic motivation (a good teacher can help students develop these feelings).
Practice makes perfect and trying new things is encouraged.
Create a feedback system that tells the students how they did after each class.
Feedback should be honest but focused on building confidence and increasing motivation. |
