Then you can feel free to do a minimalist job and when you get fired, move to the next one.

There are lots of hogwans and lots of bad teachers out there. Welcome to the crowd.

Hagwon salaries vary, generally starting at 2 or 2.1 if you have no experience. 2.4 for a first time teacher would be quite rare, simply because there are so many people looking for jobs.

The best thing to do is to get your documents together, apply for jobs and see what offers you get. Although it does sound like hagwon work probably isn't the best idea for you, as your posts imply you intend to do the absolute least you can and hope you don't get fired. Most hagwons only offer 10 days vacation, along with national holidays, so you'll be expected to work at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, with the odd day off or long weekend here and there for national holidays.

Do those 2.0 or 2.1 hagwons not provide any housing or airfare?

30 hours a week is only for 20 somethings who don't go out drinking much. Don't forget, you will get sick too, but no sick days will be allowed. Even for a 20 something it's too many hours to teach effectively, although you may be able to maintain your energy for an edutainment type of experience, but even that is tough.

20 hours is a good amount where you can teach effectively and keep up your energy, maybe 25 max, but I found this tough as time went by. Anything much over 20 hours unless they give a lot of vacation breaks, and its' unlikely you'll leave Korean with a lot of good memories. Unless you're willing to just skate by with the bare minimum not to get fired.

So you won't get fired even if you spend only 5 minutes to prepare for class?

So I take it you can very easily find another hagwon job paying at least 2.0 mil even if you are fired?

Do you have to work side by side with other teachers when you work at a hagwon? Can the other teachers working with you report you for not being sufficiently prepared and get you fired?

I think I was pushing it when I said 5 minutes. Would something like 20 minutes of preparation be ok?

Don't you get paid less for 20 hours? I've been seeing only 30 hours job posts.
