oh yeah! im at Emart today and t'was totally insane! sick, crazy, it was crazy! insane! i wanted to cop 4 items, microwave rice, kimchi, gim and dorangi. so, i walked down the check-out line with my four items in my green basket looking to pay and get away fast! i see the sign above the '5 items or less' check-out counter and bolt. right affront me handsome ass, theres a couple with a full metal carriage unloading their items, one by one, onto the conveyor belt...endlessly...had to be more than 50 items!!! i waited, patiently... laughed a little, then said, in Korean, 'hey, you have more than 5 items! this be a five items or less checkout counter!' the dude looks at me and replies, ...in Korean, 'sorry, cant wait!'
WTF? took 20 minutes to be rung up and outta there! |
This 5 Items or Less signs are there for looks. Another generic spin taken from the Western World. It means nothing. It's nothing more than decoration to appear westernized. You have to keep telling yourself, "I'm in Korea." |

I'm in the fitness centre this morning, there are some communal scrubbing type-cloths for washing. Some guy hawks up one or three good ones, drops them in the middle of the shower room, then picks up one of the communal cloths, wipes it up, then replaces it back on the shower tap for the next patron.
why?

I cant fathom why youd stand there for 20 minutes fuming though? Why not just move to another checkout? |

I knew a korean woman a while ago, who admitted to me that once before we'd been introduced, she'd followed me around the supermarket looking to see what I bought, and then buying the same things.

I actually got told I couldn't use the 5 items or less lines by the checkout chick because I had six items even though the ajumma who was in front of me had at least 15 items.
I just pointed to the ajumma's things and started to count in Korean. Got up to 15 and stopped. She still had a few things I hadn't counted. |

You should have reached into your basket for something (preferably a jar or something else that will shatter loudly) and, without breaking eye contact with the checkout woman, tossed it over your shoulder as far as possible though with minimal apparent effort. |
