I just had 90% of my amazon order denied shipping.
All of it stuff I can't find in Korea. The only thing still possible is books.
How pathetic is that?
Block out all foreign competition and force people to buy your inferior products at twice the price.
Its the whole Korean killjoy/ coc*blocking mentality all over again. Can't compete on an even playing field, so then cheat/ illegally rig the situation entirely in your favour, keep the people misinformed, and get every government department in on it.
Has anyone had any success with borderlinx?

Is it stuff you've had shipped here before? I've always found Amazon to be hit or miss on what they'd ship here. |

Do you mean Korean customs didn't let it in, or Amazon won't ship it to Korea?
If I look at the Amazon site, a lot of the electronics they won't even ship to Canada. Canada would let it in, but US merchants can't be bothered I guess. |

I ordered a CD last year (yes I know its dead technology, I like to support certain bands that I appreciate etc) and Korean customs held it. I got an email for Amazon telling me that Korean customs was holding it and I had to give my arc number and a reason why I needed the CD. WTF? Got it eventually.
Ordered another this year from an artist I like, directly. It was sent to me on May 23rd, Korean customs held it for a month, never contacted me or anything. Got an email from the CD sender telling me the CD was returned to them and basically he can't send it to Korea.
I don't really understand what the *beep* is going on with this. Both of these CDs you could never find in Korea for love nor money. My wife rang the postal service and customs. Both explained that certain foreign goods are now restricted, but no one could give a straight answer as to what items were or weren't on the list. It's like living in the Soviet Union sometimes. |

A good reason to boycott the market and to buy second hand. They're basically choking the shit out of us financially by making us buy cheap, low quality goods (Korean or Chinese) that will break easily, so we have to keep replacing them (like my korean e-book reader that lasted a month or the guitar that had worn down frets after a year) - or buy over priced Korean stuff.
Either way, we don't win and they do. |

I just ordered 3 pairs of US made shorts for the summer, 2 pairs of naked and famous chinos, came through without a hitch. Ordered a couple of special t-shirts, a custom hat, a jacket, a couple amazon books, and a few electronics instrument) things, came right through, no problems. Maybe twice from eBay, I was asked to pay import tax, on eBay, but not by customs. I dont know what you guys are doing wrong. Maybe stuff that is in direct competition for some local industry? |

This is the same government that just signed a free trade agreement with Canada?
Even leaving that aside, the idea that you should crack down on people buying things abroad where they're cheaper... |
What's wrong with Canada? Ha ha. Actually, I support free trade between developed countries. But, what bewilders me even now is why we ever brought much less developed Mexico into the fold under NAFTA or why Korea recently signed a free trade agreement with China. Truth is trade between a developed and undeveloped or developing country is not a level playing field. One will not follow the rules and will have slave labor wages, while the other will follow environental rules, safety regulations and pay a somewhat decent wage. |

That's because they have corrupt deals with merchants in Canada that have to get their cut and overcharge us. Wouldn't be surprised if the merchants paid kickbacks to the original company in the States. I have some easier time getting some things shipped here than to Canada. Plus they pricks don't charge me HST for shipping to Korea, but will for shipping to Canada.
The government has no problem letting things in. It's the companies themselves. But, then as someone else here mentioned, Korea can be illogical by not allowing in a CD of sort. (Did it have some kind of controversial lyrics? )
But, so far, I've been able to ship many things here. (IE Clothes that fit.) Just got to keep each order below 150,000 won. Even with the shipping some prices are still reasonably priced and the quality can be better. Business casual shirts for work that I wear sometimes a great example.
I Herb, love that 4 dollar Korean post shipping deal. That one's actually pretty good.
LL Bean (good for insulated clothing at decent prices for winter and some business casual) was one of the first companies willing to ship here a few years before all the others would. (Small company; use to be made locally in Maine. But now partially made overseas.) Vets well remember a time when Amazon and other companies would not ship here. Only two options when I first got here was to make a list and cram the suit case on a home visit or rely on G Market and hope they had something close to what you were looking for. |
