no, i was technically wrong about the terminology of bbq since you want to squabble about it, not wrong about the concept of "grilling restaraunts" (since you want to pick at semantics even though that's what everyone calls them here) being popular in korea. and if you are too lazy to find 24 hour gyms that's no sweat off my back. keep up the good fight but remember ignorance is not bliss.
and steel, sorry man, but you are just flat out wrong. re-read what you typed carefully and face the music. i could cite more articles on the internet that would agree but i'm not going to beat a dead horse. |
When you see "BBQ Sauce", what do you picture? Something from BBQ chicken? Some Korean sauce? No, it is American BBQ sauce in one of its varieties and American BBQ sauce only. Now if it said "Barbecue Sauce/Marinade", then it could be any number of tasty, just as good, ethnic variations.
But getting those at a BBQ place is like walking into a "Pasta" place and getting a plate of Pad Thai.
I'm not a major BBQ connoisseur, so I might be off on some of the details, but the basic idea "BBQ is to barbecue" what "pasta is to noodles" is my point. |

i can't believe people are still going on about barbecue here ...
'BBQ' is simply an abbreviation of the word 'barbecue'. that's it. end of story.
arguing that 'BBQ' and 'barbecue' are two different things is like arguing that the 'FBI' and the 'Federal Bureau of Investigation' are two different organizations. no amount of talk about sauce is going to change that.
the argument that 'BBQ is to barbecue' as 'pasta is to noodles' is completely false because 'pasta' isn't an abbreviation for 'noodles.' |

BBQ- You may be having some Barbecue, but that don't make it BBQ.
ABC- Almond Boneless Chicken. Your chicken may have chicken. It may be boneless, it may have almonds garnished on it. That don't make it ABC.
KFC- It may be in Kentucky. It may be fried. It may be chicken. That don't make it KFC. Hear me Korean Fried Chicken?
40 oz. Glass/Bottle may be 40 ounces in volume. It may have beer. That don't make it a 40. King Cobra/OE or some Camo. Five Xs because Camo is too strong for Triple X.
QPC- It may be a quarter pound burger. It may have cheese. That don't make it a Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
BLT- It may have a cut of samgyupsal, some lettuce and tomatoes tossed on, that don't make it a BLT.
PB&J- You may throw on some organic peanut butter, you may have some pomegranate preserves, that don't make it a PB&J. Peter Pan and Smuckers.
LSD- People may call it acid, they say it makes em trip like acid. That don't make it LSD.
Not to get lewd but BJ- She may be...but that don't make it a...
On topic NYC- You may have been to Staten, that don't mean you were in NYC. |
