the wales discussion had me thinking back to funny times...

when i worked in scotland, a bunch of us had a competition to see who could name all 50 states-being Canadian, I suppose I had an unfair advantage and won with 49 out of 50 (annoyingly I forgot Ohio).

Then we decided, being very bored, that we would try to name all the countries in the world, which quickly degenerated into a several month argument as to whether or not scotland and wales are countries, the definition of country vs nation state, etc.

in the end, we nowhere near managed our goal-to name the 193 countries recognised by the UN. After naming about half of them, none of us could come up with anything else.

I was born in Fresno, California. Moved to Northwest Arkansas at age two �� with the folks. Seattle at twelve years of age, then south to Monterey, CA. Los Angeles during the riots of '92. Migrated to Austin, Texas in the latter part of the same year. Orlando, Florida during 1999. Seattle, again, for the first part of 2000, then back to Austin for the last four years. I hope to move to South Korea in August. I hold an American passport but I like the Welsh flag much better than the American flag:

In my experience it has been in order of amount of teachers
1. Canada (by a country a mile - maybe more than all the others put together- they will start calling it little canada soon)

2. New Zealand (The asians are moving in and the NZers are moving here - like an exchange program)

3. British (there are SO many in japan though)

4. Australians (not sure why there are not too many here)

5.Americans (might have something to do with the crappy exchange rate more than the anti-U.S. sentiment)

6.Irish (great people to drink with if a little aggro at times)

7.South Africans (one director told me South Africans are the scum of the ESLers - to be honest I've only met three and they were some of the best drinkers I ever met so great company).

That's strange. It has to be the money. Look at the qualifications necessary, just a BA. America has to have at least twice as many people graduating with BA's, yet we have twice as many people here. (If you look at this poll anyway.)
