Reviving this thread rather than starting another one, does one need to get a new background check if having left Korea and returning (F4, obviously)? I assume my previous job would've filed the documents with the MOE from before so would I simply be able to get copies or do I have to do it again?

Change of jurisdictions or out of the country for more than 90 days and you need a new set.

Re-re-re-reviving this old thread. So I recently came to Korea on an F-61 visa. Although immigration now requires an FBI check for the visa, I only had to provide a Malaysian background check as I was moving from there. So I don't have an FBI check on file with immigration.

I do, however, have a brand new apostilled FBI check sitting in front of me. My new employer doesn't want it, and since it took me so long to get I don't want to have to go through the hassle of requesting another one in the future. Is there some way I can file it with the MOE myself or something? Someone earlier in this thread mentioned voluntarily filing it with immigration, is that something you can do? My google-fu has failed me on this, and I really don't want to run into a situation where I can't switch jobs because I need to wait months for a new FBI check.

UPDATED - 6 years revise on this thread.

I have my F-4 Visa and apostilled diploma. I worked at a really good school where I couldn't give them my apostilled CBC right away and THANK GOD they let it go and continued to let me work and pay me regularly. THAT IS NOT NORMAL. Even with an F-4 visa, you NEED YOUR CBC APOSTILLED. Let me know if you have any other questions about F-4 visas Smile
