Yet you continue to say nonsensical things that make logical people wonder if you are on drugs. |

To me it seems Lucas and Cabeza need to meet and have a nonsensical-sayings party. Seriously I have no idea what either of you are talking about.
Probably you are mad about something on this thread? Just man up. |

Midnight golfer? Only if Kimchinonga is involved.
Yes, he does collect bags of rocks.

Wait, is all this fuss because people from Africa have ebola, and Koreans don't want to have ebola, so they don't want Africans coming here?
Because that seems rational. |
You are quickly becoming the most tiresome, mindless bore on this forum. You are not only evidently devoid of the ability to think critically, but you have an unfortunate tendency to offer opinions on topics you not only know nothing about, but are apparently content to know nothing about.
Have you any idea how frickin' big Africa is? Are you aware that the ebola virus is largely restricted to a small area in West Africa? And 99.9999% of Africans have not come into contact with it, nor are they likely to. It's like if ebola had broken out in a region of Uzbekistan and a British pub banned "all Asians" from entering its establishment. The JR Pub rule, and the reactions of the Korean customers, was that stupid. But no stupider than your post, I must add.
Add to that the anti-black prejudice in this country and you can see how deeply offensive those "no Africans" posters were. This is a very common theme in Korea. From the 'black face' jokes on Korean tv to an African friend of mine who, just last week, was stopped by the police on his way home and demanded to see his alien card. Simply because he was African. Or could it have been that he was heading home with a Korean girl? Either way, Korean attitudes towards 'Aprika" and 'Aprikans' are vile, and the JR incident was just another chapter in that story.
And the racist, ignorant Koreans who complained had a much greater chance of having their health negatively affected by being hit by a selfish, lawless Korean motorist on their way home from JR Pub than by the presence of Africans in said establishment, even if it had been packed from top to bottom with Africans.
Also interesting that white South Africans weren't turned away. Only black Africans. That alone speaks volumes about the spirit and prejudices lurking behind the ban.
It's astonishing that this needs to be explained to you.

Once again, before we indict Koreans, it should be noted that JR Pub was the only place that put this up, that no other business in Itaewon did the same, that Koreans still flocked to Itaewon during the Ebola crisis, that foreigners still filled up JR Pub, and I've heard that one foreign bar in Itaewon had a "No Nigerians" policy at one point.
It seems the silent majority of Koreans didn't share JR Pub's views. It also seemed that many a foreigner didn't care about JR Pub. I was at the Wolfhound during the weekend and outside having a smoke I'd see people walk into JR, look for the infamous sign and comment on the situation and laugh and go in. Apparently the lofty ideals of being against discrimination took a back seat to trying to hook up or get your drink on. |
