I'm always surprised how many on this forum so strongly support corporal punishment.
Let me ask you this, sr style: Would you, if you caught your girlfriend stealing money from you, beat her? How would you and with what and for how long would you beat her? What if you caught her cheating on you?
Violence begets violence. |
Well there might be some spanking involved...Either her for being such a bad girl or you "spanking it" as you're all alone for the night after that incident.
As Bill Burr says, the phrase "There's no reason to hit a woman is a crock of crap. There are plenty of reasons. You just don't do it."
But this premised on you living in a place where the rule of law exists and serves its people. There are parts of globe or occupations and areas where the rule of law does not apply or the law cannot be brought in due to ongoing criminal activity. In which case reasonable solutions are off the table. |

Corporal punishment is used on minors, not adults. And a full-on beating is on one extreme end of cp. On the other end is maybe a quick slap to the hands for a kid trying to take your cell-phone (since a lot of people these days consider any physical interaction cp). |
Corporal punishment can be used on anyone. Think Singapore, for example.
Think.
BTW, if an adult took your cell phone, what would you do? |
And America still has the death penalty, the ultimate form of adult cp.
Anyways, if an adult tried taking my phone in my presence, I'd probably get involved in some kind of verbal, and probably a physical altercation. |

Well, even though that is merely a smog screen of distraction, I'll counter that....
What if women TRULLY WANT equal opportunity to have their arsses handed to them? |

What if your girlfriend kept speaking through a movie? Would you put her in time out? Would you make her write lines? You really can't compare what you would do to a misbehaving child in class to an adult.
Again, I'm not pro or con CP (I just don't want to get into the specifics here), but I think both sides are pretty unfair when they talk about it. Many pro-pc folks will talk about out of control children and how the world used to be perfect back in their day (no, it wasn't). Anti-pc people will sit on a high horse and call other side abusers while using the most extreme examples of cp which everyone has already dismissed as too violent. That's really why I don't want to get into it. |

Did you write this in another language and then have it translated by an online program? That's the only thing I could think of that would account for such gibberish. |

She wouldn't be my girlfriend for long.
I think, obviously, considering the way the pro-CP crowd phrases their arguments, that my questions were/are fair.
BTW, since violent CP was (maybe still is) fairly common in SK, you can't dismiss it out of hand as you do above.
But I agree it's a pretty boring argument, especially considering the folks arguing aren't education professionals. |

And generally most on here aren't parents. |
