Will someone please just drop the bomb on that country and end their suffering? Their stupidity is not even funny anymore... |

The name of the range was Bullets and Burgers. |
From their website:
"The Bullets and Burgers Adventure is a private outdoor range set in a stunning outdoor desert landscape. We separate ourselves from all other Las Vegas ranges with our unique 'Desert Storm' atmosphere and military style bunkers. We are located on the eclectic 30+ acre Arizona Last Stop property surrounded by picturesque mountain views at the edge of the undeveloped Lake Mead Recreational Area.
Our guests have the opportunity to fire a wide range of fully automatic machine guns and specialty weapons. You will choose the guns which you want to shoot from our extensive collection and we provide the eye/ear protection, ammunition, and expert guidance. Our guests have an opportunity to choose from a wide variety of machine guns. Click here to view all of our available guns. Our 50 Cal. selections includes the Barrett Sniper Rifle, the Browning BMG .50 Cal ('the deuce'), and the Desert Eagle. We even have the actual firearms used in several Hollywood hits including The Terminator and Rambo II.
To top it off, lunch is included inside the the World Famous Arizona Last Stop restaurant located onsite. You will be treated with the World Famous All American Hamburger, fresh cut french fries, and a drink. The All American Burger is guaranteed to be the best hamburger you have ever eaten.
The Bullets and Burgers Adventure is approximately 4 - 5.5 hours in length from scheduled pickup to drop-off back at your hotel. Helicopter upgrades are available. Please see our Helicopter Adventure Page."

What I can gather from this is that the instructor's eys and ears were protected and probably not where the bullet(s) entered his head.
Oh, and his last meal was probably very delicious. |

I think a lot of people all around the world would cheer, actually.
"Desert storm atmosphere", they can hide in their fake-plastic bunker. |

The Last Stop Shooting Range.
It really was his last stop. The irony is deadly. |

If the range guide had been standing behind the girl, having his hands on the weapon to prevent that recoil, as opposed to squatting by her side, this would not have happened.
Does a nine year old girl need to learn to fire a weapon, such as that? No.
Did the parents act in sound judgment? Absolutely not.
Should the firing range allow children of that age to be on the grounds, with that type of weapon, with an instructor in the wrong position (especially since it is safe to assume the child really did not understand the nature of the weapon itself)? Negative.
Should the parents have taken it upon themselves to teach their daughter about the nature and purpose(s) of learning about, learning the nature of, learning the mechanics of, and learning to fire a gun? YES.
The 2nd Amendment is what is supposed to keep a corrupt government at bay and the principles of liberty on the table. Yes, times have changed...but corruption and tyranny stay the same. That is what needs to be taught...not he commercialization or glorification of guns but the responsibilities, knowledge and discipline that must correlate with them.
Children should learn this maxim from their parents...not from a firing range.
Simply watching your 8/9 year old son/daughter with a weapon of that type, being monitored by a man who is clearly NOT WHERE HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE...and the fact that the parents did not even know any better, as if they were on holiday to Disney Land....all make this a tragedy.
And, this little girl will be scared for a long time. |

That little girl's street cred just went through the roof. Mom: "pick up your toys" girl: "eff that, I shot a fool. I don't need to be picking up any toys." |

I am sorry but the issue (for me) is that a 9 year old was firing a gun, whatever the gun is. |

I'm willing to bet that more 9 year olds have died because of bicycle accidents or swimming than being accidentally shot or accidentally shooting someone at a gun range. And A LOT of kids shoot at that age. My YMCA camp had us shoot .22s at that age. Nothing happened. There's no reason to ban kids from bicycling, swimming, or shooting a reasonable firearm at a firing range (not a fully auto Uzi, say a .22 rifle or maybe 20 gauge or .410 shotgun) |

maybe in a few years when she's older and the weight of her stupidity and her parents stupidity is firmly on her shoulders she could start the change that is necessary.
oh a blue sky world.. |
Her stupidity? It wasn't the 9 year olds fault that an adult put an automatic weapon in her hand and told her to fire. Imagine the trauma this child is going through after killing a man. |
Imagine her when she starts high school, first day, Freshman year. She'll walk through the doors and all the other kids will be like "pssst, yo, that's that girl who killed that dude with an uzi..... do not f*** with her..." |
