Im helping my boss find someone, who when I got hired a few years back, had at least 50 replies the day after he put up his eslcafe ad. So I check today and he has like 5. Last time was also in the fall.
Of course, I think alot of schools are trying to hire in the Spring (same as other schools ), but still, only 5 decent ones (a couple outside of country, a couple of Africans who cant apply for an E2 visa).
Are the economies back in the West doing that much better? Moved on to China? What?
BTW its a decent job, good wage, GyeongiDo, so its not like in the extreme country is what Im saying. |

O.K., I got it. Here are a few apostrophes to tide you Grammar Nazis over:
"""""""""""""""""""""
Now that that's done, would there be anyone with an opinion to share with us?
I've checked again, about 36 hours in, and 7 qualified people have applied for 2 jobs.
I thought this ESL market in Korea was "doomed" and "flooded." |

But what's wrong with the job? Is it Kindy, the pay you say is decent but is it really?
Also technology has changed and it use. Where before people who look at Dave's and other places of course now people just Facebook it or expect miracles from recruiters. People have gotten lazy. They need that job to to come to them.
I would not discount the make up of teachers. I think there are less "new" teachers at times and more people like me who just keep staying around. You job maybe be decent but it ain't decent for the long-timers. Even for those with lowish standards.
Maybe the advert is also too soon. Which is a rarity? It is usually last minute. |

No kindie, standard Elementary hagwon, he wants someone in about 2 weeks or more, that's last minute enough.
Another dig on whats decent or not? Im a long timer (whats with these hierarchy on who's better and has the greater position among the teachers, geez). I didn't ask that. I just asked if there are less people for these jobs. |

You've received 5 decent replies, that's not bad. Your boss may have exaggerated his previous number of replies.
The demand for jobs in Korea is starting to drop as salaries and benefits aren't improving and there are better and easier options in China and the rest of Asia.
The number of teachers has also dropped due to government cut backs.
Finally as you're looking for someone in country and available within a few weeks, that's going to cut now the number of people applying. |

I wouldn't apply for your job because its likely too much hassle for no result.
A job ad for one position, advertised by one school is likely to have been taken already. Its a waste of time applying. Many applicants and only one job.
Its more worthwhile to apply via a recruiter who has lots of jobs available. that way you're more likely to get something. |

Dave's seems to have fallen out of favor in Korea with lots of people that get free advertising on FB and Koreabridge. There are tons of negative comments on FB from foreigners in Korea who used to rely heavily on this site. |
