Has anyone worked the middle school afternoon shift at an MPOLY school?
The hours are 2 - 10:30, that's 2 hours less than the 9-7:30 shift most of you seem to have worked.
I was wondering how that shift cmpares. The salary is lower (around 2.3 mil), but to me it seems much more worth it.
However, they seem to use standard middle school American textbooks in math, literature, science, history, etc. Wouldn't that require an insane amount of prep time? At most hagwons you teach basic reading/speaking classes multiple times a day so prepping is a breeze. |

| Has anyone worked/heard of other people's experienced at Mapo Poly? I'll be starting there at the end of this month, and I have to say, some of the comments about the working hours terrify me. I was used to working 25 hours in my previous school, so the idea of working 35 seems exhausting. I'm really hoping those two hours of prep will be enough to avoid taking work home... |

| At the Mapo campus you will only be working 35 hours? If you work the full courseload it will be closer to 45. |

| That is still incredibly low. Kindy alone is 25 class hours a week. Are you only working until 4:30 every day? |

My contract states I'll be working 7 hours a day (although, tbh, I thought that was the maximum number as opposed to strictly working 7 hrs everyday). I also get two hours to prepare and 45 mins for lunch.
I'll work from 9:40-7:55. |

The legal limit per day is 8 hours with a 40 hour per week limit. If you agree to work more (per day or per week) then you have to be compensated with equal time off later. This does not include break time (which you are also entitled to) but the law does not distinguish between time which you are in the classroom and time which you are required to simply be at your place of work. During "break time" you are allowed to leave your place of work. |
