So, the Canadian RCMP website has the following disclaimer up now:

Quote:
Electronic fingerprint submissions to the RCMP is not currently available outside of Canada. You may contact accredited companies within Canada who will digitize ink fingerprints and submit them electronically to the RCMP.

*Please note that after July 1, 2014, paper submissions will not be processed and will be returned to the originator.

Which sounds like a real pain in the ass, right? But then on the page for processing times, the same website states, quite clearly, that the processing time for an electronic fingerprint submission is 3 business days or less.

So, it seems that what used to be a 22+ week process for those of us residing in Korea has become a super fast process that is possibly able to be completed within a week or two, mailing times included. Can anybody confirm this for me, please? I need to send off for a CRC sometime soonish. Thanks.

So, basically, you can send a non fingerprint form and do a CRC without your fingerprints then?

Does the embassy carry these forms by any chance?

You absolutely must submit fingerprints for a Canadian CRC. The problem is that they now only accept government-approved electronic fingerprints, which is a service that is unavailable outside of Canada. Thus, Canadians abroad must:

1. Obtain ink fingerprints in their country of residency.

2. Submit these ink fingerprints to a government-approved company within Canada to have the prints digitized. The RCMP homepage has a list of such companies here: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/rtid-itr/vulner-eng.htm

3. The fingerprint company will send your electronic prints off to the RCMP, who will process your CRC and send it back to your mailing address.

My question is if anybody has actually done this before, with the third party digitizing the prints. How long did it take, from Korea?

Too bad the embassy did not provide this service.

I've done it.

1. Get Korean police to do your prints on the RCMP form

2. Send to RCMP approved third party to digitize and send electronically to the RCMP

The whole thing took less than ten business days but cost around 200 CDN or so with shipping.

I used Worldwide Forensics and was very happy with their service.

Digitizing of paper-based ink fingerprints has already been available for several years. They accept foreign fingerprint forms.

I always found it amusing when people are complaining about a "4 month wait," for an RCMP check, when, like the above poster said, you can get it done in 10 days if you did any basic research about the process.

Sweet, thanks all.

Yeah, I did the 4-month wait once before. That was bullshit, never again. E-prints are sooooo much faster. (Still don't get the 4-month wait though. If it's that easy, the RCMP would just digitize the prints themselves, no? My guess is it's just the cops being lazy / not wanting to process paper prints. Which is stupid.)
