I also concur with the stomach upset/explosive diarrhea issue. I've used it in the past and like others have said my boss showed up unannounced at my apt. and demanded we go to a doctor.
It ended up being a horrible day off because the first doctor said I might need surgery, we were then sent to a specialist who had no idea what was wrong (probably because I was faking it), then finally we ended up at an acupuncturist and by this time it was like 3pm and my fun day off was half over. When he was done with the needles I said it was a miracle!!! I'm cured!!!
I walked home and watched TV for the rest of day, it sucked.

Not really un-korean. My wife and all her friends and all my friends who have office jobs each have between 10 and 15 Personal/Sick days.
What it is, is so un-Pub/Hagwon ESL industry. |

This is why I will never take the school provided housing again...that, and I can get a decent enough place for 700,000 a month, and not have to live in a 1 room! |

| I decided calling in sick would possible leave friends in a bind at work. So I asked for a personal leave day (even though I was way late). Management said no problem and didn't even ask why. I guess it is a good place to work. I still have to make the lesson plans and prepare materials, of course. |

I got to do one sometime this month (Oct). Weather is so nice. Shame little vacation time now. Would be better to have it now than when the weather sucks (summer and winter). But logic and Korea don't go together like peanut butter and jam do. :p |
