Hello,

I was offered a position at Seventh Day Adventist. I am definitely not religious, but have read that they do not ask you to teach religion at all, strictly English. I think it is fairly new for the school to hire non-Christians.

Does anyone currently work there that enjoys it? I am not sure which branch I may be working at, but the recruiter seems to believe that I will be able to be in Seoul. However, I also read that you are not placed at a branch until AFTER the training course while in Korea? Do they ask you to move to different branches throughout your year contract?

Some more questions (if you don't mind!!)

-Is there a pension?
-I heard that some teachers have had to room with others. Do they offer single only?
-Is it true that you do not teach Friday afternoons?
-The recruiter said that I would be able to choose my preference of hours. It definitely seems there are split shifts here. How flexible are these hours/how much of a say do the ESL teachers really have?
-Is there a set curriculum for the adults and elementary classes?
-This may be a dumb question, but would I have to teach in a church?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

A quick "Google" search came up with a lot of information. I recommend you do the same. If you're not cool with "Google," I will post this link for you to start with: http://www.koreasda.com/

Whatever BS your recruiter is feeding you about Seoul is just that, BS. Recruiters would promise you chocolate filled unicorns (if that's what you're in to) in order to seal the deal.

They place you after the orientation because then you're already in Korea, and it's too late for you to change your mind when they place you in the middle of nowhere.

After perusing the website, I would seriously reconsider this opportunity unless you want to "share our growing love for this Gospel with the people of Korea and to make disciples among them." (from the site)
