hi, ive recently come to Seoul , im currently here after one one month, and am here on a landing visa / 3 month thing that you get when arriving. Im a British citizen.
I want to apply for a job here, but my passport will expire at the end of February, in 4 1/2 months... will this mean i will be unable to get a work visa after finding a job? will i need to renew my passport first before getting the visa, or can i renew it afterwards?
the reasong i ask is that if i were to renew it no it would take so long that id probably have to leave the country before once my 3 months is up, and also it would delay getting a job.
thanks a lot for any help! |

With 4 1/2 months remaining on your visa you are essentially screwed.
You won't be able to get a visa (less than 6 months validity)
and
you won't be able to do a visa run to get an E2 (can't enter a 3rd country to obtain your visa) for the same reason.
The ONLY place you can go with 4 months remaining is to your home country. Get a new passport and then find a job that will supply you with airfare.

could i not, for example, re-enter Korea, or another country that provides a 3-month landing visa type situation, and then send off for another passport to arrive within those 3 months? it should take about 6 weeks, i currently have 2 months left here which is pushing it a little, but if i had 3 it would be safer |

As an American, when I needed a new passport, I emailed the US Embassy (sp?) in Seoul. The got right back to me. I got a new pass port in just a few days. |
