Howdy.

Can y'all please help me? I would like to know if western style
bathtubs are available in Korea?

I have a medical condition in which hot baths (sitting) are helpful.

Due to some apartements' lack of sufficent hot water, would I have
to go to the public baths?

Do the public baths have hot tubs?

Thanks.

Sauna's are available everyone ... basically public baths in all essense and there are the varying levels of hot tubs ... more than likely sufficing your needs

Bathtubs are only going to be found in 2 bedroom and larger apartments

Yes, the public baths have hot tubs. That is basically what they are.

They will be very good for your condition.

You can move into a large apartment with a bath, but I doubt you can put one in your current apartment.

First off, hot water is widely available here- sometimes it takes a little figuring out how to get it, but I've lived in five apartments in th country, and moving to a sixth soon. They've all had hot water.

Another odd sounding option which might work is dragging a kids inflatable pool into the bathroom and filling it up. According to a co-worker who tried it, it works rather well.

It took five years for me to claim my own bathtub in Korea. Before that, the ubiquitous 'self-cleaning' bathroom. But as Westerners are regarded here as disposable and recyclable, and a bathtub is regarded as a symbol of permanance, don't hold your breath. Unless you want to hang in for five years. That's a long time to wait for a serious soak.
