I had 15 days vacation at my hagwon, and only used 10 over the course of the year. Should I expect to get 5 days of pay for unused leave or did I just lose the vacation days? I don't fully understand the wording in the Labor Law.

First off, it's good to hear that you actually got to use 10 days of vacation, especially if you're not counting national (red day) holidays. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) to learn that a lot of hagwons try to screw with personal vacation days.

What does your contract state with regard to vacation days? If it reads that you are compensated for days not used, then bring it up. Even if it says nothing, bring it up. Can't hurt to try.

Tell them you want to finish the contract 5 days early. Of course getting paid until the last contract date.

I renewed my contract and was wondering if I should be expecting additional pay.

Why not? If it is in the Labor Act I should get it.

why are you "laughing out loud?" I was nearing the end of one of my contracts and I had half of my vacation left, 5 days and the hagwon asked if I was going to use the 5 days or if I wanted the money for it. I ended up not wanting to go anywhere at the time so they paid me W600,000.

Are you so wealthy that you would wipe your ass with W500,000-W600,000? It's a perfectly legit queston.

If you want the answer you should ask your boss. It wouldn't surprise me if you don't get it but it's worth asking the right people about.
