Whenever a sentence starts with "KN is making the mistake of..." it has a very high probability of being wrong.

No such mistake has been made. Simple math was used to illustrate why some poster's thinking was too narrow.

Simply wrong.

How so Atwood, please illustrate with corrected math.

Remember to reread the thread and see what I was responding to (keep your ADD under control).

Just because the US productivity is double Korea it doesn't mean it will be done in half the time. A Korean firm might have double the workers for a task, finishing it in the same time - that would be 50% the US productivity.

Yes, partially correct, but massively skewed because of your biases.

------------------------------
Take this theoretical example, which isn't that theoretical, and is being generous to the US...

US 10 workers, each does 1 unit of work per hour of actual work, actual hours worked 3, on the job for 8, work is eventually performed but there is a 1 week backlog. Work done 30 units, hours 80, productivity 0.38.

KR 10 workers, each does 1.2 units of work per hour of actual work, actual hours worked 3, on the job for 12, work is performed as it arrives. Work done 36 units, hours 120, productivity 0.30.
------------------------------

Don't let silly things like facts influence your argument. (Incidentally, you can say "I don't argue" but when the behavior you are engaged in is an argument, you look pretty dumb.)

I don't argue, that's what you do.

I illustrated using simple math, that what you said yesterday was wrong; productivity doesn't necessarily mean that much. Specifically workers can be less productive, yet get more done, and get it done faster.

You should try learning something on the internet instead of arguing.

Airbus sells more jets than boeing .boeing still wins

If korea is going gangbuster why does their stockmarket suck.

Why do their start ups fail?

I wouldn't hire Americans or Koreans. I'd hire Indians and Mexicans.

Well yeah, now you're opening it up! But do you mean operations in that country, or workers from that country?

My preferences (for office work): I like CH (educated HK or SH types) for a mix of smart, not too expensive, and hard working. IN is fine if operations are there, cheap. MX not a big fan. KR big fan; labor is more expensive, but they are bright, educated, pleasant, and hard workers. SG I like but they are expensive. US only for a few of the creatives / free thinkers, those people are studs, but the general work force are lazy dolts.

Guys. He's trolling you.

Re-read his posts. None of them contain any type of general business terms. None of the posts sound like he's coming from any kind of office environment. No correct terminology like "profit loss statements" or "lead time" only "$gain" or "get it done NOW" or things like this. He claims to be a manager of employees but never used the term "direct report". Many other examples as well. Also any true manager that honestly calls down empirical facts for no reason likely isn't really a manager. (He also seems to have a lot of free time for someone who should be working so hard in that Korean office all the time...)

For further proof go back and read some of the extremely well written comments from earlier in the post about real businesses here and others of us who work for these companies. Compare the style and you can see it pretty well too. He honestly sounds to me like someone trying to pretend they know about business but really aren't integrated in any firm at all. Or are pretty new there. What manager at an MNC would call talk about his friends, the "investment bankers badasses"?

There is also the broad scale generalizing of entire country demographics and general racist crap. ALL of us who have worked for more than one MNC know that office culture is always different and can not be 100% generalized based on where the employee was born. Over generalizing of a population is total troll playbook material!

Bottom line is I don't know why you're responding to the clear trolling. His logical response to my comment will likely be one or multiple of the following:

-debasing my comment as nonsensical.
-redirecting one part of my comment into a new argument.
-changing the subject to something else slightly related but also inflammatory.
-Ignoring me (but probably not cause he seems to like to reply to most people who deface him with the hope to keep the conversation going)

I think we all can see this whole comment thread is a farce and I hope nobody's actually legitimately going along with his bullshit. If it's just for fun though, carry on Very Happy

So again, a Dave's person had a bunch of theories, and all of them were wrong. Nothing new here...

The stock market has nothing to do with the economy at large. The health of the economy can be better measured by the employment rate.

That's it. For a bit of a laugh, but the humor seems to have run dry.
