Have they got a presence in the UK? I don't remember ever seeing one. Germany has got LIDL and ALDI which are hammering Tesco in Britain at the moment. So much so that they had to sell their fleet of private jets recently.

If you're right and the company is hurting, they could be looking to cut their losses with their not very profitable branches overseas. If they own the real estate they are on, that's big cash.

They more or less own the country. So I would not be surprised either.

I wonder if Home Plus will need a Letter of Release... This really is nothing to show surprise over. Koreans generally buy the same shite anyway. Why should Home Plus waste money in this country?

Another good reason for the big markets; Australian and American beef at 1/3 the price of the mom and pop beef markets.

Good ol' American beef and pork is always a winner. Too bad Koreans have to mark it up so that they can sell a bit of their swine. Of course, after all the hoof and mouth disease Korean pigs are in short supply.

That's why I appreciate kn filling in--he squeals just like a stuck pig.
