I suppose there are things I post in this forum that don't really fit. Not that anyone notices them, and why should you, it's unimportant. You read through the comments here and it really is terrible at times. It is snarky and so on. Each person has a point to defend.

I guess I'm on the wrong forum if I ask anybody to consider what kindness is. This might even sound gay to some young people. Isn't the internet a battlefield. No.

I don't know what kindness is. I'm not interested in ideals. I'm curious if it is possible to be kind. Can you do that? I'm not sure I can. I'm kind of a jerk at times. It comes and goes.

But there is no way I can see kindness as weakness, or is there? It doesn't make sense. I don't know what intelligence is, but can it be other than caring for others? Sounds idealistic. You know, those who are really not much different from you.

To be kind is excellent. Everyone in this life is working hard and trying. But damn life is not easy.

I enjoy joelove's musings.

Kindness is an underexplored human trait, but a vital one.

Korean women value kindness. Maybe you could interview them and ask them these questions?

There is a book called The Secret.

It explores the power of love, kindness and willpower. You should give it a read. They have the book on cds so you can listen to it instead.

No doubt there is power in love, kindness and happiness. Its also contagious.

All women value kindness because they can control those with kindness. Not just women, either. Men too.

Kindness
There's a chance that I could fall
And not come back
And never regret a thing
I'd never get back on track

Darkness all around me,
I can't find the light,
I let it all surround me,
Giving up without a fight.

The bitterness and pain inside,
Countless tears I had to cry,
I was facing all my fears,
Just to let you in
To dry my tears, but

Your kindness won't betray me,
I feel your heart and soul,
Your kindness still can save me,
I choose to not let go,
Stretching out you somehow reach me,
I know this can't be wrong,
I'm ready, won't you teach me
Your song of kindness

Quiet grace surrounds you,
And helps me find my own,
I can't tell you how you've helped me,
And how much I have grown,

Even though you're far away,
Inspiration comes from you,
To shine a littler brighter every day,
If you only knew...

I will never get upset,
And I will never, ever forget,
The happiness you made me feel,
Almost as if you're actually real, but

Your kindness won't betray me,
I feel your heart and soul,
Your kindness still can save me,
I choose to not let go,
Stretching out you somehow reach me,
I know this can't be wrong,
I'm ready, won't you teach me
Your song of kindness

Your kindness won't betray me,
I feel your heart and soul,
Your kindness still can save me,
In a way you'll never know.

Your kindness won't betray me,
I feel your heart and soul,
Your kindness still can save me,
I choose to not let go,
Stretching out you somehow reach me,
I know this can't be wrong,
I'm ready, won't you teach me
The way to get along,
Even when the cold wind's blowing,
And I want to just give in,
It warms my heart just knowing,
I'll hear your voice again,
So won't you sing it loud,
And won't you sing it long,
I promise to remember,
Your song of kindness

I promise to remember.
I promise to remember...

I appreciate that. I gather you are an older guy who has had some time to reflect on things. This is where we might meet.

Kindness surely exists when there is no self-interest. I don't know when this occurs. You know, when you feel kind to another, it is not out of interest in return, it is because you want the other person to have a benefit. It is not for yourself. Does an action need a motivation? If I care about you, I'm not sure it does.

Now, this wanting the other person, who you may or not care of, to have some sort of benefit, is that also self-interest? Perhaps it is. I don't know what kindness or altruism is.

The alternative is a race to be the meanest, ie something akin to Korean society.

Kindness is the salt of the earth.

Hmm, maybe Koreans don't like you people, because you hate Korea and are racist against Koreans. And then you conclude Koreans are not kind? Idea

They are super kind to me.

Isn't that similar to empahy?

My life got much, much better when I stared being less cynical and thought more about other people.

In Korea?

Kindness is viewed as weakness here, it will only get you stomped on.

Koreans don't recognize kindness, they've never seen it before.
