| By the way, I doubt it was a letter begging for bucks. It was likely a letter informing you of the bit about your income is taxable by the US. |
Naw, it's begging. They are definitely getting desperate, sending out letters hoping xx% of fools just pay it without question. The letter makes no sense and contains no specifics as to what/why they believe I owe them money. To make it even worse, it is in regards to an issue they already wrote me about and was resolved years ago. Now they are coming back asking for MORE money? Weak. |
No, it is just government bureaucracy. He's right. The DC government contacted me this year about my tax return from 2010. The DC government is currently running a budget surplus and flush with cash. I'm pretty sure it was something else that triggered the IRS to contact you, not US government finances. |

Uhh China is flush with cash, USG has debt.
USG needs to increase both personal and corporate income taxes, but what happens when they do that? Citizens and corporations leave. Christ, now I've got to drink a coffee and pull my old tax docs, again...due to other's incompetence. |

| I think by "DC Government" he meant the local government of Washington DC, not the American Federal Government. |

| Well the Fed ended their "quantitative easing" today (who thought that horrible term up?). They'll still have to print money for the USG annual operating deficit. And they will keep interest rates low, probably into perpetuity. But will stop the extra stimulation by ceasing their private bond-buying program, because apparently the economy is so stable now. I think they were printing $85 billion a month on that, so it will be interesting to see what happens now... |
