Hi guys!
So I did ask about other programs in the newbie forum, but was hoping to get advice/info from all you wonderful people. So I just found out I did not pass the EPIK interview, and am a bit downtrodden. I went through Korvia Consulting, but was wondering if anyone knew if you can re-apply to EPIK if you get rejected once? I am considering applying for Fall 2015 if possible. Otherwise I am considering looking at other options like GEPIK or something else. On top of that, I have considered other Asian countries. I hope I am not being too demanding, but I would love to get housing/airfare paid, be able to save some money per month, and possibly go through a program like EPIK (where you get an orientation and meet other teachers). Does anyone know of any other programs like EPIK (in other Asian countries)? Also, do you recommend applying to any other programs like GEPIK in Korea? I have a TESOL, English BA, and am volunteering in a classroom (but do not have any professional teaching experience), but I think I could be a great teacher if I get the chance I did post a question like this in the newbie forum, but I feel like this could be more Korea-focused. Anyways, sorry this is so long, but I feel like I am back to square one now and am a bit overwhelmed on how to proceed. Thanks for any info/advice!!!! |

Hi! Thanks. Well, I am female, in early 30's (so not young enough)...I don't know about the looks, but whatever. I will keep it up! I am going to try for GEPIK ad maybe check out JLP? Hadn't heard of that one. I just wondered if anyone had ever re-applied for EPIK and got in (or if they even allow you to apply). Anyways, thanks, I will not let the "drunk ajossis get me down!" |

Yea definitely you can re-apply.
JLP is jeolla do language program. Talk is also good.
Also, koreaconnections is a good recruiter for choongnam province public jobs. Jay is a cool dude. I think you have many options. |

I think you should just go the hagwon route. It's easy to meet new people through Facebook groups and what not. I know Gwangju has a really good foreign community. Going the hagwon route will also allow you to start working and making money faster. Just remember to do your research on these places. |

Not all public schools hire through EPIK. Some districts like Chungcheongnam-do (Chungnam) and Daejon (Taejon) hire independently with their own forms and through Korean school recruiters. Try Korean Horizons, they recruit for non EPIK schools and have a good reputation. Why am I telling you this? I might want these jobs for myself in the future. Anyhow, be as it may, you shouldn't have wasted your time with EPIK. Look at the non-EPIK public schools unless you definitely know of a Hogwan with a good reputation. |
