Hey guys.
I recently completed my Master's of Arts in Teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. My Bachelor's Degree (received from Columbia University) is in English Literature, and I have TESOL Certification. However, despite these credentials, I have no teaching experience- with the exception of a student-teacher program I completed during the course of my Master's degree.
So what teaching jobs will I be able to get? I'd like to have a job in or very close to Seoul. I have about 25,000 USD, and I have a car already; but it's a gas guzzler. Any expenses that need to be taken care of will be handled by my parents (e.g., shipping my car to Seoul, extra money, etc.) but once I'm in Korea, I'm on my own. I have my criminal background check as well.
Thanks for the help in advance guys
EDIT:
EDIT: I took out the last edit because I realized it made me look like an idiot. Lol. So I'll rephrase that question.
Taking into account that I have degrees from these Ivy League Universities, will I be able to net jobs that pay over 4 million Won a month?

Is there something wrong? I'm sorry if there is. I'm new to this forum. |

I was going to reply but after reading the post 3 times I still have Writer's Block. I don't recall having Writer's Block since I was in Middle School.
Every time I read the post I'm stuck somewhere between mesmorized and hypnotized. |

Maybe I should clarify... I have no idea what Korean schools are looking for in an English teacher, or if they know about Ivy League universities like Columbia or Harvard. Several people have told me that Koreans live in their own bubble, so I'm really confused..
I'm choosing to work in Korea because I would like to expose myself to another culture, and from what I've read online, Korea is a good place to start. |

Now that you've rephrased it, I can still answer with "No." |

Because it's not in the salary range. Have you looked at any of the job ads? |

Seriously, stay home.
With what you have (lots of theory and no practice) you qualify for an entry level job in EFL at 2.1 million won per month.
Get home country licensure and 2 years of home country experience under your belt then look at proper international schools. The picture changes a LOT (as does the job).

What if I went now? I'm kind of eager. Taking out the salary filter, who would hire me? |

Eager you say?
Apparently, this is a place looking for someone eager.

People with jobs like that don't graduate from Ivy Leagues, my friend.
By the way, how much would 25,000 USD get me in terms of buying an apartment in a city like Seoul? |

I'm wondering if this is a troll post now...
Are you a pretty 20 something blonde? That's more valuable than any Ivy league degree in Korea...
Your Ivy league degree means basically nothing.
You'll just be another rent-a-foreigner in a hogwan/uni/public school.
Your boss might be impressed by the fact you went to Harvard, but unless he thinks that fact in and of itself can generate more income for his school (unlikely), then he has no reason to pay you or treat you any differently from any other foreigner from Podunk community college.
Seoul real estate is like New York real estate in terms of prices. Your employer will provide you will accommodation. |

Buying? About 5% of an average apartment in Seoul. |

I used to work down the street from a hagwon called "Harvard." I'm sure they'd love to have a smug over educated fool such as yourself working there.
Having said that, I'm done feeding this troll. |
