Hey Folks

I'm currently teaching at a hagwon. My contract ends in the end of February. EPIK teachers are required to attend the mandatory orientation, which begins on February 19th, 2015.

Is my best option to wait for August 2015?

Do you know anyone who was able to secure an EPIK job in my current situation?

Don't give up so easily. Either try to book the day off as holiday, a sick day, or otherwise, see if the EPIK orientation can be rescheduled. I am sure you will not be the only one who can't make it.

Maybe a substitute at your haggie for just 1 day.

Thank you for the optimism. The only issue would be, the orientation starts on the Monday and I work until the Friday.

I'd need someone to cover me for 5 days. My hagwon probably would not let that slide.

Would you be willing to lose your severance over it? I am just mentioning that because it is sort of a worst case scenario. You could tell them well in advance what is going on and basically force them to accept it. Either accept a sub for a week or you give your notice and quit at the 11 1/2 month mark.

I'm also looking at going from Hagwon to Epik, but in August - how has it been getting all your documents from here?? I'm just starting to look into it and get prepared!

I've heard of people missing their orientation and going to the one next semester instead. I don't know any details about it other than that it's happened.
