I have not heard outright denial that gays exist for a long time. Other than that not a whole lot of change. All the open minded Koreans I have met are western educated or have western significant others. |

Surprised? Do the stats and personal accounts match up to your own experiences? |
Peter...you should get together with this guy.

Given the large number of Koreans who have visited the Phils, a country filled with gays, I'd say yes, attitudes are changing BUT I doubt that even young straight Koreans would be OK with children who came out. |

It more often okay in someone else's backyard. Wait until it's in their own backyard... |

thats the LAST thing we need--another country being accepting of faggot love. How disgusting, condoning men sticking their *beep* in another man's hairy stinking hole. Me, be apart of that accepting group or liking the fag community? NEVER. |

And I laughed.
The Freudian slip is quite telling. |

I laughed as well. Grammar and spelling are more important than we realize. |

In my afterschool debate class, I put forward the proposition "Gay marriage is okay." Debate topic fail, as every student was strongly supportive of it. |

Korea's opposition to gays has always struck me as less virulent than what you find in the West, even if it is more widely accepted. Issues with homosexuality have as much to do with family responsibility, i.e. marrying and having children, as they do with any issues of sexuality. I'm sure there are religious families that are just horribly opposed to any gayness whatsoever, but most Koreans are more curious and confused than anything else. I have a feeling that once the cards start to fall, they'll fall rather quickly, and I think their falling is rather inevitable with smaller families (it's harder to reject a gay child when he's your only child). |

Why should a whole country be forced to like homosexuality? More western nonsense. |

They shouldn't be forced to like it, just to mind their own business about it. |

At least it was only words you were putting in their mouths. |

Homosexuality has gone from outright denial/hush-hush status to mostly scorn/immature jokes made by my middle school students status. I suppose the acknowledgement that it exists is at least a step in the right direction towards acceptance. |
