Yes, which is why I was so surprised. Just out of the blue, a week before flying in, 'put 560 dollars in this account', and the following day, no response to my negotiation [will put 300 in now, and pay all the rest of the 2 months on moving in], just 'sorry but I have others offering to put the money in right here right now'. If he is the decent guy you say he is then the only thing I can think of is he is really desperate for money. Still....Anyway.

I'm guessing he's going to say that he couldn't trust that you had the money after you balked at paying what he'd asked. That may be harsh, but I have a feeling that's going to be his perspective. Considering he's been around the EFL block more times than most of us have years, I can understand where he's coming from, even if it ended up being a pretty crappy situation for you.

I don't think I exactly balked at the amount of money. Was more a case of looking after my interests. I was still uncertain whether the deal was legit after continued attempts to get a Korean contact. I didn't even get time to post here once I received the immediate demand for a large deposit. If I had, no doubt I would have got a glowing report on his character. He could have responded to my offer by simply insisting again on the 560 deposit, and then given me a day to decide [I would have paid it... the reward/risk ratio thing]. I don't think a little negotiation is too much to ask after such a prolonged process, and given that I was just about to travel.
