|
|
Hi fellow Canucks. Can some of you fellows recommend a good school for taking a full classroom 120 + TESOL? I'm guessing Toronto or Vancouver probably. I will need to get one eventually. (Wasn't required for Kroea when I first got over here.) It'll prob be another year before I can get around to doing something about it. But, this falling won had me needing to teach where I can actualy make some money and get on with my life. |

No, it isn't. But, google can't tell me which is good and which isn't and what's recognized. That's why I asked here. Thanks for the link. But, does it actually list any recognized schools? |

I'm sure the schools write glowing reviews of themselves. |

There is NO global recognition of TESOL courses, no standardization and no "accreditation" hence the large number of 30-day "Teach 'n Travel" wonder courses.
If you want a 30-day TESOL/TEFL package then go with one of the top 3 brands (CELTA (Cambridge-U), Trinity (Trinity College Cert TESOL) or SIT (the people who train the Peace Corps). At least there is some recognition of standards and quality control.
TESOL Canada has a list that they recognize (all 300+ hours and not cheap).
Otherwise either get your MATESOL/M.Ed TESL from your favorite uni or get it done from the Photoshop School of TEFL.

Ha ha. Good point. I had asked because some other countries only accept an in class one. Even EPIK wants 40 or 60 hours in class. So, if I do one, in the future, I'd might as well just do a full 120 hour in the class. But, the CELTA is the better of the two for working in the Middle East.
Just something to think of for the future if my current job pulls the plug and I end up stuck with a 2.1 million hakwon or something. Other countries would be calling.... |

I'm guessing a uni job here doesn't care if it's (MA TESOL) online though? |

Do it on the weekends in class and then a thesis.
Complete in 3 semesters and no issues.
On-line with a proper thesis from a brick and mortar uni works the same.
Strictly on-line from a digital uni won't work in the ME but will usually work elsewhere (especially if your thesis was peer reviewed and published).

Thanks for the idea. I'll check to see if I can do it in Korea then. I assume I can if you suggested it. |
