This is what happens when you let prejudice and bigotry lead your response to combatting a disease.
You will also notice that almost every single infection was through sexual contact which makes the law requiring HIV tests for English teachers to be doubly bigoted and doubly stupid. |

So it says theyre 92% male. Hmm so its getting spread around by gay ajossis OR the sex tourism OR the domestic prostitution industry.
How about more blood tests for SE asian bar girls and drunk ajossis instead of college educated western teachers? Hmm crazy thought! |

They removed the requirement for HIV tests for 'entertainers' on E6 visas back in 2010. |

When did that law come in? Does it apply to the E1 visa?  |

As far as I know its with each new visa application. Simply renewing your visa does not require a test. |

I have an F5 and my employer requires a medical each year. It has nothing to do with my visa. HIV testing is standard with all bood work done in a hospital.
I think everyone should get it done. |

as someone who could potentially have HIV, i am glad they check all foreigners. i wouldn't want anyone with HIV coming into Canada for any reason.
also, i'm glad it's dudes who have HIV but... most people i know have unprotected sex anyway so it's only a matter of time |

You need to remember that the requirement to get tested doesn't just come from KIS there were/are also requirements from the MoE and MoJ.
Also whilst people should get tested, they shouldn't lose their job if they are tested positive. This is especially true for foreigners on E series visas because that basically amounts to deportation. |

They don't test all foreigners. These days English teachers are one of the few remaining categories of foreigner that are required to have an HIV test.
Also testing foreigners for HIV and banning people with the disease from entering and living in the country does nothing to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. |
