Why the hell are you people watching Korean tv? Why would you voluntarily inflict that on yourselves? And it's not just that. Some of you are referring to the 'actors' by their names? You know their friggin' names? Korean television is an abomination. Yelling, crying, over the top yukking, and forced hyena laughs. And those foreigners who debase themselves on those shows are an embarassment to all of us.

You know their names. Shocked

Even guys married to Koreans - it takes a rare breed to watch Korean television and actually get off on it. These guys are not normal. Not everyone is like that, not all of us give a *beep* what some random Turk does in his private life.

Do you think foreign men are any different from Korean men?

I think you need to expand your circle of acquaintances. Anyway, I seriously doubt that you know that every Korean man you've met cheats on his wife. There really are people, even in Korea, who don't do that.

But the point is it's not uncommon in every country. Not ideal situation but it happens. Why do people get in such a tizz about celebrities doing it?

Well some of us have a Korean spouse, and as so many have said before, pick your battles.

Just get them some good headphones and they can watch the shows on their laptop. Problem solved and no noise pollution. Of course if you haven't done this already it'll be hard to set the tone now. Or get a girl who actually reads books...

Most TV is pretty annoying in general, but Korean TV takes it to extreme levels with all the screaming and endless replays of the dumbest scenes. It's like they take every annoying sound effect known and throw as many in as possible. Not good on the system to watch that stuff. And let's not even talk about the over-acting... the stuff is unwatchable basically. Not in my house.

Oh, UFC is on? Ok, NOW we can turn on the TV. Laughing

You have to really love your wife to sit with her on the sofa and watch Korean television. That's a committed husband, and I guess I have to respect that in a way. I could never do it, that's for sure. All Korean tv makes my ears bleed, my compassion for humanity die a little bit, and my brain go into convulsions. And that's when it's set at the minimum volume. Yet they blare it so loud it can be heard a block away. It's just wrong.

You have to really love yer Mrs.

Shows like Infinity Challenge and that Abnormal Summit were/are actually very funny if you watch with subtitles. People need to stop trying to be "cool" by pretending to hate Korean TV. If you can actually understand it, it is actually fun to watch. Dramas on the other hand are not my cup of tea.

I doubt very much that people are "pretending to hate Korean TV." Why would they pretend to hate it? To be cool? That makes absolutely no sense son. You can be 100% sure that I'm not pretending when I say that I loathe Korean tv. It's a dreadful phenomenon. It's all the annoying things about Korea on steroids.

It's not funny. It's not entertaining. It's not clever. It's just bad.

I hate Korean TV. I can guarantee you that I'm not pretending. I agree, it's just bad.

No, once you understand it, it's actually just as bad (or worse) as you'd think. When I first saw Korean television, I thought, "Ok... seems silly, but maybe I'm missing something."
I wasn't.

(Kidding! I actually love the shows, I'm just pretending to hate them to appear cool on a website where nobody knows me anyway.)

The subtitles, sound effects, on-face graphics and slow motion multi-angle replays are some of the most infuriating things about Korean TV.

A joke is funny or it's not. If a show needs subtitles every 1-2 seconds then it's not funny. In fact; it spoils the viewing for me. I don't need to be told why it should be funny.

A Korean show 30 mins long must need at least double or triple the time to edit it with all the endless dumbing down subtitles and childish sound effects. Must be why they are so *beep*.

To each his own, but it's no worse than American TV in my opinion. Every drama in America is a crime/detective show and American comedy has devolved into nothing. (SNL)

Now, I'm not saying that all Korean TV is good because there are crap programs, but not all of it is bad. I just feel like people on this forum just like to jump on the bandwagon and say "Oh yea! I hate Korean TV, too because I wanna be cool!"

The reason I bring up the fact about not understanding it makes you not like it is because I used to feel that way too. I couldn't stand or understand why they needed to replay scenes over and over again until I was able to understand the words and content. After that, I actually appreciate the replays because I either missed what happened or I wanted to see that again. So, when people call that out and say they hate that, I'm calling them out and saying they don't even understand the program.

That's just my 2 cents or more.
